It was nearly midnight and entire Hogwarts had fallen asleep. Melkor Alphard Valenceus Jr, or Alfie as many people called him, sighed heavily leaning on the wall behind him on the empty seventh floor corridor. He looked down at the small golden time turner that he held in his hands. It was quite easy to find one, but using it would be a bit more difficult. He had heard the instructions his mother had given to the Black twins; so all he had to do was to turn the hourglass. That seemed easy, easy enough even for Marc to handle it. Alfie smirked and started turning the time-turner. He closed his eyes, waiting for something to happen.
A couple of moments later, Alfie opened his eyes. Then he closed them and opened them again. Nothing seemed to have changed, he was still standing in the empty dark corridor. Alfie shrugged, looking around. "Lumos!" he whispered and lit his wand. He started to walk down the corridor with his wand raised up high. It was still rather dark and Alfie tried to find something that would help him orientate. The Room of requirement should be on his right and a statue of... Alfie stopped and inhaled loudly. The statue wasn't there. He frowned, remembering that it had been built during his second year in Hogwarts. Alfie couldn't suppress a small satisfied smirk, the silly thing had actually worked. He approached the entrance of the room, thinking that he needed to see the place where Della and Marc were hiding. A couple of moments later, the door opened and Alfie walked into the room. The first thing he saw was Della's light blonde hair. She seemed to be reading something. There was no sign of Marc. Alfie smiled and slowly walked towards her. "Good evening, Della." he whispered, casually leaning on the wall and looking at his cousin.

It was Marc's turn to guard Sirius and that meant the twins would be separated for some hours, much to Adelle's relief. Since arriving in the past, it was even harder living with her brother. He was constantly snapping at her, criticising everything she did and being in generally bad tempered. Aunt Rowena had given her a book. And now that she had some time to herself, she decided to start reading it. She was still half through the first chapter when the door opened and heavy footsteps claimed her attention. Thinking it was her brother, Adelle huffed loudly and slammed her book shut. To her amazement she heard her cousin's voice. Della looked up tentatively and when her eyes rested on Alfie's frame a wide smile appeared on her face. She jumped to her feet and ran to hug her cousin close. Adelle was genuinely glad to see Alphard. He was always nice to her, unlike her brother. It took her a while to realise that he was in the past. Shock replaced her smile and she pulled back. "What are you doing here?" she whispered with her hands resting on his shoulders.

Alfie's wide grin turned into a look of pure shock as Della run to hug him. He just shrugged, returning the hug and patting his cousin's back. He raised his eyebrows; he would never have expected her to greet him so warmly. However, he had never managed to understand girls fully and was aware that he probably never would. Alfie frowned when Adelle pulled back, with a strange look on her face. “Well, I just couldn’t let you go on such a dangerous mission with that insolent brother of yours. Someone should make sure that he doesn’t get you into trouble.” He wasn’t quite sure what their mission actually was, he only knew that it had something to do with Viktor and his horcruxes. Perhaps he would be given the chance to take his half-brother’s wand if he helped them. Alfie just shrugged. “I overheard you talking to my mother and decided to follow you and perhaps even help you. If you want my help, of course.” Alfie looked at Della and smiled. “Have you spoken to my mother? Does she know you’re here?” he asked, hoping that his mother wouldn’t find out that he had followed them.

Adelle scoffed loudly and folded her arms over her chest. "He is so stubborn," she snapped at no one in particular. The younger Hufflepuff twin stared down at her feet and added, "He is constantly revealing things that he shouldn't. Instead of focusing on the real intent of the mission." Della leaned into Alphard and buried her head in his broad chest. She inhaled deeply and replied, "Of course I want you to help." She diverted his eyes upwards and said, "Thank you for coming. A friendly face is always nice." Adelle did a double take at his question. She cocked her head to the side and simply nodded in response.

A satisfied smirk appeared on Alfie's face when Della started complaining about her brother. Luckily she couldn't see the look on his face. "He is acting so juvenile. You shouldn't have taken him with you." he said, carefully placing his arms around Della's frail figure. Alfie rolled his eyes. Marc had been such and annoying and childish brat, ever since he'd come to live with Alfie's family. Alphard was younger than his cousin, but he had always seen Marc as a subordinate. However, he considered Della his equal and the two of them had been friends ever since they'd met. Alfie frowned and looked down at Della. "He didn't say anything to upset my mother, did he?" He was protective of both his mother and his cousin. Alfie grinned when Della said she wanted his help. "If that's what you want, your wish shall be granted then." He looked around the room and then back at Della. "Where is Marc anyway?" he asked raising an eyebrow.

"I didn't want him to come," she admitted sheepishly. Adelle looked away and shrugged her small shoulders. Having his arms around her body was comforting. Della pressed herself closer to Alfie, her hands clutching at the front of his robes. She looked up at the question and gulped. Her cheeks flared red as she shook her head in response. For some reason, Adelle had never been able to lie to Alphard. The blonde gulped and heaved a long sigh before admitting, "He told her you were not a nice person." She reached for his hand, lacing her fingers with his. "Roaming around," she said cryptically.

Alfie nodded his head. "Of course." he said. He didn't want Marc there, either, but there was nothing they could do about it. "Nevermind, we'll deal with him later."he shrugged. Alfie raised his eyebrows when Della pressed herself closer to him. It was a bit surprising gesture, but he still liked it. Alfie focused his gaze on Della and frowned when he saw her bright red cheeks. However, he knew that she could never lie to him. After hearing her words Alphard rolled his eyes. "Great. Now she probably thinks that I am worse than Viktor. I remember how sad she was when I was sorted in Slytherin."Alfie sighed. The last thing he wanted was to hurt his mother. A small smile appeared on Alfie's face when their fingers touched. He enjoyed being with Della. "Fool." he just whispered.

Touching her free hand to the side of his face, Adelle stood on the tip of her toes and touched her forehead to Alfie's. "I told her it was not true. I do not wish for aunt Rowena to worry for nothing. We are here for other reasons and not jeopardise our pasts." Della nibbled her bottom lip, as her eyes involuntary darted down to his lush mouth for a brief moment. The blonde Hufflepuff released her hold and stepped away from Alphard. She wrapped her arms around her body and turned around breathing heavily.

Alfie kept on smiling and he gently patted Della's blonde hair. He just nodded his head. "I hope you're right." Alfie frowned and looked away, trying to ignore the strange feeling in his stomach. "Honestly, if he says something to my mother... or to you... I will..." Alfie clenched his fists. Della was like a sister to him, they had grown up together and that had to be the reason for his strange urge to protect her. When she turned away, Alfie quickly moved to the nearest armchair and sat down, trying not to look at his cousin.

Adelle retained her position for several minutes before turning back to face Alphard. By then her cousin was comfortable perched in an armchair; the one usually occupied by Marc. Della started biting her lower lip and inhaled deeply. She cautiously approached Alfie and sat down on his lip. Adelle looked at him for a brief moment. She then rested her head in the crook of his shoulder and curled up against his body. "I am really glad you are here," she said softly. Della lifted her head and gingerly brushed her lips to his cheek.

Alfie remained sitting in his chair, completely motionless and lost in his thoughts. His dark eyes were focused somewhere in front of him and he only moved when Della approached him. His eyes widened slightly and Alfie bit his lip, trying to hide his surprise when she sat on his lap. Alphard returned his cousin's look and put his arms around her small body. He smiled sheepishly at her comment. "Me... me too." he replied shortly, still feeling rather confused. He felt as if he was going to blush, when he felt Della's lips on his face. Alfie just sighed, trying to persuade himself that it was nothing more than a friendly kiss, just like the one Della would give to Marc. They had grown up together after all, she was like a sister to him. Alphard clumsily patted Della's back. "Perhaps we should... ehrm... you know..." Alfie just shrugged. "Right." He lowered his head, almost touching her blonde locks and patted her back again.

A smile made its way on her face as she listened to his first words. After kissing Alfie's cheek, Adelle rested her head back on his shoulder and tightened her hold on him. Alphard's next words confused her. Adelle furrowed her brows but did not comment until after he patted her back. She rolled her head to the side and looked up at him wide eyed.
"Do what Alfie?" she asked innocently.

Alfie seemed to be confused by his own words. He was simply babbling nonsense and had no idea why. The young wizard seemed even more confused when she raised her eyes to his face. He frowned, not quite certain what he should say. Alphard remained silent for a moment or two, staring blankly at Della. „We should... we should... well... we should go and look for Marc... before he gets into trouble.“ Alfie lowered his gaze, waiting for Della’s response.

The blonde girl pursed her lips and sighed softly. She lowered her head back on Alphard's chest and tightened her hold onto him. She remained silent for several seconds, processing his words. It was odd that he wanted to go look for Marc and that made her wonder that maybe he was not comfortable with her. She sighed again, this time sadly and slid off him. Adelle resumed her previous perch and looked up at him wide eyed.
"I am sure he won't get into any trouble. I don't really want to be around him more than necessary."

Alfie sighed, leaning backward when he felt her grip tightening around him. He remained completely still for several seconds, until Adelle moved backwards and gave him a strange look. Her look made Alfie blush. He had a feeling that he had said or done something he shouldn't have, but the problem was that had no idea what. For some reason his words seemed to have upset Adelle. Alphard gulped nervously, his face changing its colour from red to gray. Della had obviously completely misinterpreted his words. It wasn't her fault, though, he had no idea what he had wanted to say in the first place. "I-I don't want it either." he managed to say after a couple of moments. "I don't want him here more than you do, but I just..." Alfie made a pause, took a deep breath and tried again. "This is really important and I don't want him to put your plans in jeopardy because of his recklessness." The tone of his voice was normal again and his pale face was getting a bit healthier colour. "However, if you trust him, then I'll trust him too." Alfie gave Della a warm smile.
