Deep inside, Peter knew that Helena seemed to have been trying to read his expression. He realized that he must have been sending too much clues to her. He silently cursed himself as he was trying to find out the reason why he was opening up to her. However, it seemed that there was something else to her interest than what meets the eye. He was rather surprised when she looked at him with interest. “I know. You really seem to be interested with these things. Do you mind me asking why?” he then asked, surveying her with interest also.
Once again, he was surprised when she turned away from him. He detected the slight change of voice and realized that she seemed to have been overwhelmed by the turn of events. He then found himself wondering why he was being kind…it was not really his nature to be one. Remember you’re a ruthless murderer…seeking revenge. She might be a potential target for you so stay away from her already, a voice inside his head said. He then tried to tune it out by shaking his head slightly. However, he was totally unprepared for what he was about to hear from her. And upon hearing her out, he felt his heart of stone melt. “You know, it’s been a while since I last saw someone from our world and I guess it’s just natural for all of us to help out each other,” he replied, looking at her intently. “And I do hope that even though it’s just the first time we have met, I hope you would think of me as a friend of yours,” he then added earnestly.
When she commented on how good he was in deciphering a murderer’s mind, he just smiled sheepishly. “Well, it’s really an interesting topic to me. Although I myself do not know why I am interested at all,” he then replied. He knew that it was more than just plain interest, his life as a murderer would be on the line. When she took his hand, he then hoisted her onto his shoulders, like a little kid. “I could use a workout and I guess you are tired. You should rest easy, it’s your vacation after all,” he then told her, grinning at her. Deep inside, he knew that this was indeed the first time he had been kind to someone amidst the atrocities he did.
