Alfie nodded at Rowena, affirming her statement. He would have done the same. Though he was still unsure if that would be true were it Rowena's first daughter standing next to him. Would he miss a chance to throw the young girl to the wolves, if he got it? Alfie shifted his feet around uncomfortably. He listened to Rowena's discourse, he knew that there was no official law unless they ventured into Muggle law. Even so, he did not know why Rowena would try to keep a student from this blackened house in the school. He was quite confused now. The Founders were definately very different people. It did not occur to him that the student in question was so unlike her parents.
Alfie did not particularly like the look of the younger lad in the room. He was also suspicious that he had not given his name. Alfie was not grieved to see the back of him, that was for sure.
It now seemed that the remaining four in the room would be discussing this, as of yet, unnamed student's future. Brutus' argument seemed reasonable at first. But then he descended into making threats. And Alfie grew angry at him. There was no need for such uncivil behaviour. Alfie had almost forgotten why he had come down to this strangely modest dwelling in the first place. He watched Brutus bark threat and order. He was very good at being a visible threat. Alfie was thinking that Morgana would have been proud when the younger lady spoke up. Alfie almost chuckled, he had indeed made her out to be a liar. "I apologize, Madam. But I have yet to see any proof. And judging by this brute's greeting, it is obvious that I have business with the matron of this household."
Alfie grinned and waited for the proof of Morgana's demise that he wished to materialize. When Morgana turned to taunting Rowena instead. Alfie raised his brow and cast a dark look in Brutus and Morgana's direction. "Careful now." Alfie did not like the brazen boasting of the murder of one of Hogwarts staff. He met Brutus' eyes with a glare. Alfie's blood was boiling with fear and excitement, it was obvious that there was some plot in action. These two were now ready to reveal themselves as conspirators it seemed. This encounter could end badly for Alfie and Rowena. "Perhaps we can discuss the student." Alfie looked to Rowena expectantly. He was unsure why she wanted to keep the student, but he would defend her will with all his vigour. He now looked to her for the final decision.

Rowena raised an eyebrow, following the young man’s departure. She couldn’t shake off the feeling that there was something wrong about him, but she also couldn’t tell what made her feel that way. Rowena’s expression turned into frown when she heard his final words. She wanted to know what kind of work he was talking about. It probably didn’t have anything to do with Morgana’s funeral and wasn’t relevant to her death. However, it didn’t make her feel less nervous or worried.
Rowena’s dark eyes finally met Brutus’ light and cold ones. For a very short moment, Rowena believed that he was about to curse her and her hand involuntarily flew towards her wand, which she kept hidden in her robe. Nothing happened, but Rowena remained focused on the man before her, trying to remember what on Earth she wanted to achieve by visiting the notorious family. “I understand that you are worried about your sister’s well-being, but so am I. Funerals can be rather ghastly and no child should witness such event. The girl would be better off staying at school, with other children and high-skilled professionals.” Rowena said, deliberately stressing the last word. Her facial expression revealed that, in her opinion, the discussion had only started. “You are an interesting person, my lord.” She spoke slowly “You seem to rely on empty threats to achieve your goals, yet they do not frighten me.” Rowena smiled and turned to Morgana.
The look on younger woman’s face made Rowena realize that there was something they agreed on, the both women found Alfie rather handsome. Luckily, the other lady was only allowed to look at him. Rowena narrowed her eyes. She didn’t like the girl one bit. The Ravenclaw founder took a deep breath, trying to hide how shocked she was by what she’d heard. “Isn’t it brave of you to talk about it so freely? Or foolish?” she managed to say eventually. “The fact that she was a Muggle-born doesn’t change anything.” She added coldly and frowned.
Rowena finally looked at Alfie and nodded her head again. She sighed nervously, because she also knew that there was no wizarding law which would help them determine the fate of the girl. Rowena blinked, looking at Brutus and Morgana. It was a good thing that she and Alfie had arrived together. If either of them was alone they would be attacked and probably murdered by the other two. Rowena shivered when she realized that she had almost stayed behind in Hogwarts and had nearly let Alfie go meet them on his own. “I’m sure we can.” She said, casting another glance at Alfie. Her desire to keep the girl in Hogwarts seemed to have confused him. However, she knew that he would stay by her side and was truly thankful for that. “Morgana has to stay in Hogwarts.” She concluded and crossed her arms again, daring them to oppose her.

Brutus looked to his mother again. Her words did not come as a comfort to him. She seemed impetuous. Though he was aware that she hadn't been having as much fun as he had over the past twelve years. He knew it was all because she cared too much about the junior Morgana to risk losing her. But Brutus had thought that's what this was all about; to get her free from that inhibition. Brutus sighed, his chest heaving as he did. "Filthy mudblood." He murmurred as he recalled the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor he had murdered in front of her students. But Brutus was alot more realistic than his dear mother. He knew that by now the school would be better protected. "No." It was a helpful thing that the word was so short, Brutus' voice would not have held its depth if he was forced to take too long to deny his mother something.
Brutus chose not to help Alfie with his request. He found the man lacking in manners on top of the fact that he would probably not remain as calm as he was if he looked at the man he hated so much. Instead, Brutus turned to Rowena next. He grinned, showing his white teeth. "We are not pleased with your ideas, Madam Ravenclaw. Unfortunately, I am aware that harming you before we get my sister back safely would be foolish. You can be sure that we'll be complaining to the governors." Brutus snuck a peak towards Alfie but did not let his gaze linger long on him. "Know that any trouble that befalls you, you have accepted by refusal of our demands. Melkor can tell you, my threats are never empt-."
Brutus paused suddenly. He felt a chill come over him that he had not felt for years. Though he recognized it at once as the hopelessness that the dementor pervaded. "Nero...!" Brutus did not get to finish his statement as the lightning set the road in front of the display window alit again. Five tall hooded dementors stood just outside it. Peering in, but not with eyes. Brutus pulled his wand from his pocket. Though it was no use, he couldn't produce a Patronus charm in practice. If there were more dementors than the five, he would be in trouble. "Behind me!" He bellowed at his mother, "upstairs to the brooms!" His wand aimed at the dementor in the middle, Brutus roared in rage "Confringo!" His spell hit the glass window and sent the broken shards hurtling at the five dementors outside.

Morgana's expression became one of indignant awe. It was in the open now, Alfie thought she was a liar. He was most annoying. Daring to enter uninvited and at this hour and call her fraudulant in one night. Morgana drew up and made a defiant grunt. She was not going to give him proof, though her old, soulless carcass was not far from where they stood. Soulless as though a dementor had kissed it.
Morgana thought desperately about how to keep her daughter under her wing. It did not do well for her pondering for Rowena to be there, speaking all the while. Instead of her goal, Morgana's mind kept giving suggestions of curses to lay upon the wretched woman. She raised a finger into the air at Rowena and shook it violently under the woman's nose. "You really are most unpleasant!" Morgana shuddered with a mix of fear and anger then turned away from Rowena almost instantly.
Morgana rubbed her eye with her hand. She had not even bother to see if she could do magic with another body. She felt quite insecure now. She glared at Brutus, livid that he would even think of denying her. "Show them out, Brutus. And be quick! I think I need to sit down." Morgana began to make her way toward the stairs. Morgana did not look through the window as the outside was lit once again. She didn't need to; the name Brutus called and the chilling feeling were all that were necessary. Morgana first put her hand on her wand, she took it and cast a spell to protect herself from the dementor's influence. She felt herself grow warmer but the spell didn't seem strong enough to work since she felt that warmth evaporate immediately. Morgana made a soft whimper and dropped her useless wand back into her pocket. She fled up the stairs as quickly as her legs would carry her.
On the next floor, two more dementors had already broken a window and were advancing on her and the staircase quickly. Morgana recalled the initial terror she had at first witnessing her former, soulless body. She ignored her wand, it was useless now. She was never good with it or good at dealing with dementors. Morgana fled up the next flight of stairs to the room they had been in before Alfie and Rowena arrived. She could hear the fight downstairs. She had known, of course, that Nero had friends. She had actually paid them to keep the dementors from arriving to save Nero, though it seemed that she did not pay nearly enough. Morgana saw the two broomsticks propped against the corner wall. She strode over to them and collected them.

Alfie watched from the side of his vision. He tried to keep an eye on both Rowena and Brutus. He was frankly frightened of either of them trying something. He was comforted to hear that Rowena could keep her head. He personally would not have if someone threatened to kill him. He only stayed cool having witnessed the intensity of Brutus' duelling ability and to keep Rowena safe from harm. He put an arm around Rowena's shoulders and gazed at Brutus. "Nevermind, dear." Alfie put his other hand over the pocket his wand sat in. "They must be delirious with grief and lack of sleep. We are keeping them up and intruding on their space. Perhaps this discussion should be saved for a less turbulent hour?"
Alfie watched with worry as Brutus kept drawling on calmly. He was such a conflicting personality to his wife. It made Alfie worry. He wondered which of the two he should watch more closely. A moment went by in which Alfie was too worried to speak. Then he shrugged. "The governors can do nothing to aid you. I think we are all a little flustered tonight. Let us speak on this matter at another time!" The chill of the dementors set in as Alfie finished speaking. He did not know what was happening when his vision failed him and he collapsed even more swiftly than when he'd unknowningly consumed Morgana's poison.
"Crucio!" The woman shrieked with pain as her dreadfully ugly uncle cursed her. "Brother, she is in here. I found her hiding." Alfie pressed his wand to his newborn son's head and wordlessly casted Silencio. He was already weeping. Unwilling to expose his child to the men. But the idea of letting her go was unbearable. "Show her to me, Cassius. Mmyes. Avada Kedavra!" Alfie moved in the same instant the green flash ignited. He placed his son on the floor of the closet and thrust open the door. His wand aimed at his wife's uncle. "Avada Kedavra." The man was struck and collapsed. Alfie's other hand was in his pocket and it whipped out and around even as he grasped hold of the knife roughly. He tore his pocket open and his index finger as he tightened his grip around it. The knife entered the back of the man who killed his wife. The man's other cohorts either disapparated or collapsed as well. Alfie ignored them and re-aimed his wand at his wife's father. "Crucio!" Alfie began to beat the man, first with his feet then he fell and attacked with his free hand. The Cruciatus curse was still upon the man as Alfie reached for his knife. He heard his father speaking from beside him now, "Good." His voice distorted and exaggerated by Alfie's own diminished perception while the event was taking place. Then the cries of his son filled his ears as his vision failed once again. His charm had broken in his fall to the Dark Arts. The boy was revealed to his father. Alfie tried to scream. To distract his father. Even though he already knew the event was a long time ago and there was no good trying to prevent it now.

Rowena’s eyes remained focused on Brutus. She didn’t like the man, his foolish threats, arrogance and prejudice. All the things Alfie had told her about him finally started to make sense. Although, Malfoy was even worse than Alfie had told her. Rowena wasn’t scared, but she only wanted to get away from Brutus and the other woman, Amber, as the other man called her. Rowena turned to look at her and met the look of pure hatred she was giving her. Rowena was almost certain for a moment that she would curse her, so she reached for her wand, hidden in her silky robe. The woman started screaming at Rowena just as her fingers touched her wand. When she turned away from her, Rowena sighed and glanced at Alfie. It was obvious that all three of them wanted Alfie and Rowena out. Rowena nodded her head and she relaxed a bit when Alfie put an arm around her. She also noticed that he put his other hand over the pocket in which he kept his wand. “I apologise for intruding, we can finish what we’ve started some other...” Rowena was about to leave, but Brutus just kept talking and threatening her. He was quite annoying. She looked him straight in the eye. “I’m not easily frightened and your threats still have no influence whatsoever.”
Rowena suddenly started shivering. It was getting colder. She saw Brutus pull his wand out and she pulled her wand out too, instinctively and turned around to see at least five Dementors standing outside. The window was broken by Malfoy’s curse and at the same time Alfie collapsed next to Rowena. “NO! Don’t blast them, it’s useless!” she screamed at Brutus. Malfoy is a dark wizard, he can’t produce a Patronus, Rowena realised. Her entire body was shaking and she couldn’t move. She felt waves of despair hitting her and sat on the floor, helpless. Rowena shook her head. She had to clear her mind, she had to think of a way to get them out. Malfoy was talking about brooms, but Rowena had never managed to fly a broom... she had never been a good mother to her daughter... she had killed her husband... Rowena shook her head again, trying to think of a happy thought. She took Alfie’s hand; she had to save him, she had to save their child... Rowena’s hand was shaking when she raised her wand. “Expecto Patronum!” she screamed and her silver eagle rose from her wand. The spell wasn’t strong enough, they didn’t have much time, she had to take them somewhere safe. Rowena sighed, she hadn’t felt safe for far too long. Suddenly, an image appeared in her mind. She had spent hours there as a child, reading under the shade of trees and listening to the river. Rowena grabbed Alfie’s arm, still holding the wand in her other hand. She closed her eyes and everything went black. Rowena felt the familiar and rather unpleasant feeling of Apparition and a couple of moments later she found herself lying on the grass. She was too afraid to open her eyes though, so she kept them closed and listened to the sounds of birds in the trees somewhere above her head.

Brutus cursed loudly at the dementors. They were a particular weakness of his despite occassionally having come to his aid in the past. He had expected Alfie and the good Professor to help keep them back for his mother to escape. But in the time it took for him to watch his mother flee up the stairs and turn back, the pair had already vanished. Brutus shot another curse at the dementors as he fled up the stairs himself. He found his mother and took one of the brooms from her. "Our guests are safe, unfortunately." Brutus cast another blasting curse to open the wall. The debris from the wall crashed a hapless dementor who was below. He thrust the broom under him and kicked off the ground and sped through the sky.
