Your Astronomy Classroom. YOu will see there are three students here already! ---- 10:30pm The sky was clear the moon but a sliver of white in the sky, it was a perfect night for the first astronomy class. Smiling to herself Emmeline Morgan cast a quick cushioning charm at the wooden benches set toward the middle of the tower. She didn't expect the students to get much use out of the seats but she saw no need not to provide the opportunity to sit should any of the students feel to. Loosing interest in the seating almost as soon as the charm hit Emmeline turned her attention to the line of telescopes set up around the edge of the room; she had taken the time that morning to hunt down and retrieve her students equipment so she could check the quality, surprisingly some of the telescopes where of better quality then her own. The question remained though; do the students who own them know how to use them. Waving her self made wand toward the domed roof as she moved around the room; a small ball of white light burst into life and began floating up into the middle of the room casting warm light over the now glittering pieces. All she needed now were the students.

Amelie could not help but be excited about the first Astronomy class. The seventh year Hufflepuff loved all heavenly bodies, especially the moon. The fact that the class would be conducted in one of the towers made her even more eager to come. So, after late dinner in the kitchens and after chatting with some Hufflepuff students for a little bit, she groomed herself and stepped out of the Hufflepuff common room early.
Upon arriving at the tower, she realize how splendid the night was. The sky was so clear for a winter night. She could actually see the stars shinning… and the moon. Her love for the moon made her walk towards the edge of the tower, absentmindedly, just to get a better view. Without intending to do so, she found herself colliding with someone. “Sorry, I’m a real klutz.” She muttered apologetically. When her eyes focused on the professor, apparently she just bumped on her, she gave her a sheepish smile. “Good evening professor Morgan.” She greeted pleasantly, not believing that she did not notice the professor’s presence before.
Amelie’s gaze shifted from the professor to the line of telescopes and smiled, curious as to what the class would be doing that night. Stargazing seemed to be a really good idea then. But, before she could ask the professor if that was what they were going to do, someone’s footsteps made her head turn automatically towards the entrance of the tower.

Alaric was busy fixing and tweaking his telescope for his first Astronomy class. He knew that he had to get it on its best shape so that he would be able to enjoy the class for the night. When he was sure that it was in tiptop shape, he then went back to his room and dressed himself in a midnight blue dress shirt with a blue striped tie, black trousers and black shoes. He then wore his black robe with his prefect badge on it. After combing his hair, he was ready to go. He then dashed downstairs and flicked his wand, packing the telescope on its case. He then picked up the case and walked out of the common room.
Taking his time to climb up the stairs leading to the class, he felt quite perplexed. He could feel that the class would be very interesting, at least for him. And when he finally arrived, he saw the long line of telescopes and realized that he shouldn't have just brought his own. Sighing, then walked his way into the venue when his eyes caught a familiar figure.
"Hey, Amelie. Fancy seeing you here in class," he then said, smiling at her. He was not really surprised to see her there. He just smiled as he remembered their first meeting. He then looked around for the professor and when he found her, he greeted her cordially and asked, "Is it okay if I set up my own telescope here? Or would you prefer us to use these?" he said, gesturing to the row of telescopes. He did this so that it would spare him the trouble of setting up, although he could do so in a breeze.

Silently amused that she had been so distracted by basically nothing that she had let someone bump into her Emmeline offered the apologetic girl nothing more than a slight nod so show that she didn't plan to retaliate. Clasping her hands behind her back Emmeline silently thanked who ever was listening for giving her patience, she hoped she could make it though the next 3 hours without snapping. "The equipment you use I will leave to your own discretion Mister Stouner. Though the quicker you complete your work tonight the sooner you may leave" Turning from the two students Emmeline headed toward the pile of papers she had left there that morning for this class. They where unfinished star charts; each chart with 4 missing constellations, the classes only task was to identify the right area fo sky for their charts and fill the parchment in. "I have the work here if you would like to get started, I won't be giving any help tonight I want to see what you can all do as students" COMMENT: You don't have to do the work but it nice to have a bit of realism. A star chart missing the first threeA star chart missing another threeA full star chart

Upon hearing the professor that it was in his own discretion as to whether he would use his own equipment for the class, he merely nodded and thanked the professor cordially once more. He then decided that he would not be setting up the telescope after all since Amelie wouldn't have any choice but to use one of the other telescopes. He then turned to smile at Amelie, a somewhat sad smile and went to get the unfinished star charts for the both of them. He then handed the copies to her and he headed out towards the telescopes.
He then chose one at random and tested it; he was satisfied with the magnification and sharpness of the image. He then reached out into his telescope kit and extracted what looked like a canvas stand. He then perched the star chart onto it and adjusted the stand so that he would be able to plot effectively. He then dipped his quill on his ink pot and started working on the star charts.
He then tackled the first star chart where he quickly focused his telescope and immediately found the ff. missing constellations: Triangulum, Aquila and Camelopardalis. He then filled the star chart accordingly. He then refocused the telescope for the next star chart, which now had the constellations Leo, Cepheus and Libra missing. Unlike the first star chart, he spent quite a lot of time finding their positions and when he was sure he found them, he filled the other star chart. When he was done, he rechecked the star charts using a copy of the full star chart to make sure there wasn't anything he missed. When he finished, he then packed away the canvas stand, quill and ink pot and handed the finished star chart to the professor with a smile.

Amelie acknowledged the professor’s nod, still looking apologetic and not believing that she could be so klutzy. Turning toward the door, she saw Alaric Stouner enter. Ah, drunk Ric of three broomsticks She smiled at him and mouth ‘haven’t seen you around for a long time.’ She listened as he conversed with the professor, quite interested when she heard something about a telescope. Suddenly, she wondered if he made it since she remembered him mentioning making watches before. As she eyed the telescope he was holding, she could see that it was made of rather expensive or rare materials. It had some kind of an ancient feel, but she could not really tell if it was old since it was so clean, looking so new.
When the professor turned away from them, she realized that despite the lack of students, the professor was determined to start the class. The seventh year was hoping to have a chit chat first before class; but, apparently it was a lost cause. So, she just smiled at Alaric as he handed her one of the unfinished star charts. She gawked at the star chart to be completed, surprised to see the load of work that was before her. For crying out loud, it was the first day. She sighed. The term break really was over.
She went over to one of the telescopes, wishing Adrian was there to take half of the star chart while she do the other half. Work was always easier when it was divided. The more people involved the better. Amelie called it the better way of doing things… She glanced at Alaric and wondered if he was willing to take the half of the chart and let her take care of the other half. But he was a Ravenclaw… Ravenclaws prefer to work alone… So, instead of simply asking him, her mouth opened and closed as she contemplated her decision.

Lars sat down on one of the stone steps, looking very pleased to have completed his star charts early. It has been a while since he last went to this class and what a better way to start off than get a nice challenge. He smiled at the professor before he turned to look at Amelie, who seemed disturbed. His brow furrowed as he tried to study her expression. His eyes wandered from her face to the star charts on her hand and he realized that she seemed to be overwhelmed by the load of work before her. She couldn't be blamed though; term was definitely in full swing and it would be hard to adjust quickly to the system.
He then got up and went near her. He gently took one of the star charts from her hands and studied it. "I'm done with mine, I'll help you with yours. Payback for helping me last time," he said, smiling right at her. He then took out his quill and started filling up the star chart.

Amelie quickly dismissed the idea and got to work. She concentrated on the chart, not because she was eager to learn about star charts. She was simply looking forward to finishing the work load the professor asked them to do because she remembered the professor permitting Alaric to leave early if he finished ahead of time. Wanting to get out of the room before the bell rung, she dismissed asking anyone for help and just did the thing.
Amelie was almost done, she was about to label the stars when Alaric went over to her to proclaim that he was done. The seventh year was more flabbergasted by the fact that Alaric was done with his work than the fact that the professor made them do such a tedious task on the first day of classes. “Whoa! You’re done?!” She asked, shock apparent on her face. “And I thought I was fast! Anyway, you would have to think of another way to repay me since I’ll just be labeling these. Maybe we could go drink to your success tonight? Professor Morgan said we could leave early.” She eyed him hopefully.

If Amelie was shocked when he said that he was already done with the star charts, he was even more surprised when he saw that she was indeed almost done with hers. "Whoa, that is really fast, Amelie. I'm really impressed," he said, surprise evident on his face. "Honestly, you should really be in Ravenclaw. You do have what it takes to be one," he then added, in an amused tone.
Since she was already done also, he then remembered that the professor told them that they could go now if they finished early. He then turned to look at her once again. He was about to ask her if she wanted to have some drinks with him tonight when she suddenly asked him the same thing. He was surprised once again, but still managed to smile right at her. "Yes, I would love to. Same place still? I have a lot of things that I wanted to talk about," he then replied, his gaze never leaving hers.

“You’re the one to talk. You’re done!” She said simply in response to his comment about her speed. Amelie shook her head, left to right and then right to left, vigorously. “No, no. At least not until the day the ravenclaw house takes pride on students who are diligent in all forms of relaxation.” She laughed as she continued labeling the charts. Truth was, she would have been done minutes earlier if she had used a better telescope. She made a mental note to talk to someone about the quality of the old telescopes the students used in class.
Upon finishing the star charts, she wrote her name and signed beside it. “Hmmmm… I think I’m done.” She muttered to herself as she eyed her work. She took Alaric’s star charts, walked over to the professor and handed hers and Ric’s work. She said goodbye to the professor and went back to Ric’s place. “Great. I’ll just go grab something in my dorm. See you there in thirty?” She smirked at Alaric as she packed up her school things in to her small pouch bag that was nowhere near the size of a regular school bag. Amelie then waited for his response before walking toward of the door and finally stepping out of the classroom.

Alaric laughed heartily at her comment about she being in Ravenclaw. She has always vehemently denied the fact that she could have done better in the said house, saying that she was kind of a slacker. “Man, you’re practically a genius hiding in a slacker’s body,” he then said, smiling right at her. “I guess the Sorting ceremony must be done again. I’m sure Madam Ravenclaw made a mistake in not choosing you,” he added, a goofy grin stuck on his face. He could see that she was having a rough time with the school telescopes and figured that maybe he just used his own telescope. “I guess the telescopes here were all dysfunctional if not with defects,” he commented. “Maybe I could try and tweak some of them, so that students would be able to use it more effectively,” he added as an afterthought.
He then watched her as she took the star charts and gave it to the professor. He merely nodded as she told him that she would just have to get something from her dorm room. “Yeah, I’ll just see you there then. Should I walk you back to the Hufflepuff common room now?” he then asked as he packed up his things and fell in step with her walk. “I want to tell you what transpired during my meeting with her,” he then said, his eyes beginning to glaze over. He still could not help but feel very depressed.
