Cole and Sarah usually left for his parent's house together for the winter solstice holiday. It was something of a tradition. Sarah was staying at Hogwarts though. So Cole stayed as well. Though she was always off searching for her dead brother, Cole was certain he was dead. Cole loathed when they were apart. He liked having Sarah around and when she left him, he usually spent most of his time hunting for substitutes. Most of his ventures proved fruitless but sometimes he would find a girl to spend time with. Cole didn't like other boys. He was practically mature compared to any of them. He was already married after all.
Cole waited for his wife Sarah in the entrance hall. Or was he waiting for someone else? Cole wasn't sure. He never could be. A group of students came through the door. Cole stood up from the stair he was seated on. He bowed, gazing to a girl among them he knew rather well. Cole ignored the others. He called to her with exaggerated arrogance, "Stay here with me, dear?" Cole was so lonely, but didn't want to invite any boys. He saw enough of them on the Quidditch field.

It was the holiday season again. Lily hated it, mostly because she didn't have a place to go or a family to visit. It had been three years since her mother had thrown her out of the family house and she hadn't spoken to them since. Lily always spent the holidays in Hogwarts, she had nowhere else to go and she actually enjoyed it, because most of the students went home for Christmas.
Lily walked into the Entrance hall with a group of other students from her house she'd met in Hogsmeade a couple of hours earlier. Most of them were boys, willing to do anything to get her attention. Lily ran a hand through her long hair, trying to shake the snow off her blonde locks. She noticed Cole Potter sitting on the stairs and gave him a small smile. Lily was taken by surprise when he actually bowed to her, but she just gave him another smile and shrugged. "Sure." she said with a nod and started walking towards him. Lily turned when she reached the stairs and looked at the other Slytherins. "I'll meet you in the common room later." she said, grinning at one of the boys from the group. She'd give him what he wanted later, he could wait for awhile. When they were gone, Lily turned to Cole. "Well, hello there! Waiting for your girlfriend?" Lily teased, raising an eyebrow.

Cole was glad she answered him. He actually didn't enjoy acting so foolishly all the time. He did it for attention, yes, but unlike other boys he didn't really care if he got it. He wasn't just arranged to marry, Cole was already a husband. So he was alot more up-beat about calling on and being denied by girls. He wasn't always a clowny show off, but he definately knew how to do it better than most.
When Lily accepted his invitation, Cole put on a show of excitement. He jumped around and punched the air in triumph. Cole knew he looked silly, but really didn't care. He would have enough time to be stern and serious when he was dead. Cole put his wand to the air and muttered, "Accio butterbeers." It took the drinks a moment before they made their way to the entrance hall from his dorm. Cole mocked a frown at Lily's inquiry. He was actually pretty sad and jealous that Sarah wasn't happy with just him. But he didn't know what not having a family was like so he wasn't sure if he should be too serious to get angry about it. "Nah. She wont be back tonight, I think."

Lily was actually a bit surprised that he called to her; everyone knew that Cole was in a relationship with that Sarah girl and to be honest, everyone also knew that Lily would easily get into a short-term relationship with anyone who asked. However, Viola Drayton had been a trouble for awhile, stealing Lily's suitors. Lily wouldn't have turned down Cole's invitation, even if it wasn't the case, because she really liked him. He seemed more mature than the other boys.
Lily had to laugh at his funny actions. She had never seen anyone show their excitement that way. "Thank you." She said as she took the butterbear with a large grin. Lily made her way towards the stairs and sat down, taking a sip of her drink. "Right. I guess I could keep you company then." Lily shrugged, eying him carefully. He didn't seem to be too happy that his girlfriend wasn't there, but he wasn't sad or angry either. Lily put her bag next to her and took out a smaller bag of sweets she'd bought in Hogsmeade. "Would you like some?" she asked as she opened the bag.

Cole knew Lily's first name. But then he knew all the girl's names that were close to his age. Cole had met Sarah first though. So he'd always put her before them all. Although their personalities were not quite compatible. His parents had always told him that that was not important though. Cole didn't think it was either.
Cole watched Lily laugh with a wide grin. He enjoyed making people laugh, it made him feel invited. Cole looked at the candy with a sideways glance. "Ah. Perhaps a piece, I shouldn't have too much though. Thank you!" Cole was happy that he had company finally. It had been a lonely day. Cole took his butterbeer and sipped it gently. "I was once addicted, you know. Nasty habit." Cole moved closer to Lily and took a rather large piece of chocolate from her collection. Cole set his butterbeer on the other side of him and unwrapped the chocolate slowly. "Hehehe." He laughed darkly as he did so.

Lily eyed Cole carefully, with a raised eyebrow. She knew his name and who his girlfriend was, but she had never been close to either of them, mostly because Slytherins rarely had friends in other houses. And Lily didn't have a lot of friends in her house, either. She had never been particularly good at making friends. Other girls in her house didn't like her and her relationships with boys were strictly physical. There was something about Cole, however, that intrigued her.
Lily smiled. "You're welcome. It's better when you have someone to share your chocolate with." she joked, taking a piece of her chocolate. Lily raised her eyebrows. "Really?" she asked. "Didn't know you could be addicted to it." She just shrugged, taking another sip of her drink. The way Cole laughed made her laugh again. "You're funny, but sweet." she said as she watched him unwrap the chocolate. "You don't usually stay at Hogwarts for the holidays, do you? What made you change your mind this year?"

James grinned at Lily. He had had a thought about putting a love potion into chocolates and wondered what a dirty trick that would have been. He wondered what kind of trick his brother was pulling anyway, going and disappearing. At first, James had not stole his brother's identidy after the older sibling disappeared out of respect. But the professor began to pester James about Cole's location so he decided to take more polyjuice to cover his older brother's tracks. He could never be declared a bad brother.
James bit another piece of chocolate off the sweet he had taken from Lily. He ignored the warnings that he was turning back into his true identidy, considering the changes in his flesh were simply some unseeable pest floating about. "Are you getting bitten? Dear lord." James did not even realize he had transformed back into his own body and no longer appeared to be Cole. He took another sip of his butterbear. "Indeed it was hushed up by the family. We're so perfect, you wouldn't think any bad could happen to the Potters." James chuckled to himself. "I just didn't really think there was much point in going home on my seventh year. After school is out, I'll be at one home or another for the rest of my life. Might as well be among my peers for the holiday."

Lily smiled and took another chocolate. She hadn't seen Cole for some time and it was rather strange that he appeared out of nowhere. However, she had never been particularly close to other students. Cole could have been there, but she wouldn't have seen him anyway. Lily looked away chewing her chocolate. She had no idea why she had even accepted his invitation in the first place, out of boredom or out of curiosity, perhaps.
Lily looked at Cole again. He looked strange, as if there was something happening to his face. Lily raised an eyebrow and looked up, trying to find the bug that had bitten him. "I don't see anything." she said "Isn't it a bit too cold for them? They usually bite during the summer." Lily just shrugged, she couldn't see anything. She kept listening to his words, but didn't look at him. "Really?" she asked "Well, you're lucky to have such a wonderful family." Lily sighed, lost in her thoughts. She didn't have a place to go during the holidays. She usually spent the winter holidays at Hogwarts and stayed in cheap inns during the summer. Lily would have to leave Hogwarts next year. Where could she go? "Yes, you're right." she said, absentmindedly and looked back at Cole. Lily jumped on her feet when she saw his face. "What happened to you?"

James yawned, having apparently gotten rid of the bug since it gave him no more trouble. He ate the rest of the chocolate that was in his hand and yawned again. "No. No. It seems to have gone. Probably Peeves pulling some trick again. James was a bit saddened to see she wasn't looking at him. Although he was aware that alot of Slytherin were plenty more vain than he and his older brother combined, the fact that Lily wasn't completely interested in him was not a very happy truth for him. "Yes. We are very lucky. Most pure blood families seem to have trouble. My father is of the extremely friendly type. Most dark wizards think he's mad. And we've got nothing to hide. So we're pretty well left alone. Even in these dark times." James raised a brow at Lily's outburst. "Eh?" He stood up and looked into his butterbeer bottle to view his reflection, being overly concerned about his appearance. He completely forgot he was supposed to look like Cole at the moment. "What?" He asked in confusion. "There's nothing wrong." James grabbed his nose to be sure there wasn't mucus hanging.

Lily was lost in her mind and she kept staring at the door across from them. "I wish they threw Peeves out. I don't like him and his pathetic pranks." she took a sip of her butterbear. It would be wrong to say that Lily wasn't interested in her companion, she was merely thinking about something else. Lily almost laughed at his words about pure-blood families with problems. It described her own family perfectly. "Don't worry about the dark wizards, I think they're all fools." Lily just shrugged. It was strange to hear a Slytherin student saying something like that, but Lily hated Viktor Lorrein and the others like him.
Lily kept staring at James when she jumped up. He looked like a completely different person. Lily frowned. "Are you playing tricks on me, Potter?" Lily narrowed her eyes as she looked at James. He looked familiar, but she couldn't remember where she'd seen his face. "Who are you, anyway? You know what, never mind..." Lily was about to leave, so she took her bag of sweets and started walking towards the dungeons.

James was startled by Lily's question. Surely, she was jesting with him. There was no way he went unknown to her all the time they had attended the same school. James grunted in disappointed when Lily stood. He raised a brow and looked at his reflection again. He didn't think he looked too bad today. A bit untidy perhaps. As he gazed at himself, James came to remember that he was supposed to be posing as his brother at the moment. "Ah- Uhm." James stood and chased after Lily. He side-stepped into her way. "My name is James. Cole's brother. I am a Ravenclaw. I apologize for the deception. But I'm afraid Cole has gone missing. I take his appearance to placate his professors from time to time." James grinned, apparently this seemed like it would be something that anyone would do for their siblings.

Alphard emerged in the Entrance hall from the top of the stair. He liked the body because he could get into the castle so easily. It seemed his host had been rather notorious for causing trouble for the professors. Alphard liked that and continued it whenever possible. He stopped when he heard a boy trying to explain who he was to a girl. Alphard had known the Potters. They hadn't liked him. Alphard came forward more and turned his eyes to the girl instead. "Ah. You can produce a polyjuice potion? Marvelous, though I can't say that your use of such a chemical is very clever. So like you Ravenclaw to be immensely skilled but with no ambition of where to apply your work." Alphard descended the stair and bowed before Lily. "Alphard Valenceus, my lady."

Lily raised an eyebrow with a rather unpleasant look on her face. "Have you completely lost your mind? You should report him missing and send someone to look for him. Unless of course you were the one who made him disappear, but that could be taken care of." Lily's tone was practical, it was something that she would have done. She would have done it even if she had been the one who had killed him, it would be the most simple thing to simply pretend that you knew nothing about it. Lily just shook her head, about to leave. James was obviously just a sweet and kind boy with silly ideas. She would probably scare him off eventually.
Anyway, Lily was about to leave when another man appeared just in front of her. Lily had to laugh at his comment about Ravenclaws. "You're right, you know." she said, turning to look at him closely. He was a bit older and had some kind of a dark aura around him. It grabbed Lily's attention and interest immediately. She just smiled and nodded her head. "Lily Weatherwax." she introduced herself. Lily glanced at him again, before asking a question. "You're not the school governor, are you?" She had seen the man who shared his name once or twice at school, but couldn't remember what he looked like. However, she was almost certain that it wasn't the man who stood in front of her. "Maybe you are, but you've just taken some polyjuice potion, too." she said and laughed, looking from Alphard to Cole.

James looked defeated by now. He had never really thought of where Cole had gotten to himself. Since he had actually posed as Cole long before his older brother went missing. James had a certain taste for Slytherin girls that his identidy as a Ravenclaw was not so lucky at getting in touch with. He was a strongly surprised by Lily's words. She did not seem to understand him at all. "He disappeared all by himself, actually. I'm sure he'll turn up though." James stepped back. He looked at the ground in shame. He had never so foolish as even to start changing back while others were around. He wondered why he was doing so now.
James drew back even further when a Slytherin boy who looked a bit scary spoke to them. James watched as Alphard approached them. Suddenly, James jumped in with a crowd moving into the Great Hall and disappeared with them as quickly as he could.

Alphard raised a brow at Lily's accusation. He had never actually taken Polyjuice in his life. Though he suspected the snatching of someone else's body was essentially the same thing. Though without the problem of having two of the same person wandering around. "No. Of course not." Alphard sighed and shook his head. "We're of no relation. Our names are a sad coincidence. Besides, no one calls me 'Alfie'." Alphard uttered the name with disgust. He would have literally killed anyone who referred to him as such.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Lily." Alphard did not take notice of James' disappearance. Frankly, he did not care about the strange boy. He had only paid any attention to him because he was attracted to Lily. "What year are you?" Alphard guessed that she was not a Ravenclaw by her amusement at his words. He watched her for a moment though and decided she would look better from the side. So he reached out to her and grasped her shoulder and pushed her so that she turned. He smiled, though his face did not look warmer as he did. He kept staring at her though, studying her every detail. "Hmm." Was all he finally said.
