As Justin felt himself move from his position, he looked behind him and saw that the werewolf was still confused. He knew that if he faced the wolf in its wild and savage state he would surely get killed instantly. However, he then wondered why he willed himself to be dragged into safety by a girl whose identity he could not even fathom except for the fact that he knows her name. He just couldn’t understand why she was evoking strong feelings of apprehension and fear on him. He then shook the thoughts off his head and focused on running away. He then remembered that by trying to face the werewolf recklessly, he was about to carelessly throw away his life on the line, thus making him have a death wish. He could feel the muscles of his hands trembling, probably due to his being tired.
As they were running, Starr then turned to him and asked if for how long the spell last on the werewolf does. Suddenly, Justin felt slightly nauseous as he struggled to think about the answer to her question. “I honestly don’t know. All I know is that it was potent enough to make the werewolf hurt himself,” he replied. He could heard its howls in the distance and wondered how much more time they had before they get caught. “I’m sorry for the recklessness I was about to commit, Starr. I do not understand why I was thinking of such things,” he then said, feeling ashamed for Starr had to take care of him much as like a sister caring for her younger sibling. Wait, a minute. What was I thinking? he then asked himself. Surely, that was the last thing that would actually pop up in his mind.

As they ran for their lives, literally, she kept her senses as sharp as it could be. Since a werewolf was present, she could not rule out the possibility that there were other werewolves on the loose that night, probably looking for a midnight snack. She looked up and saw that, indeed, the full moon was there, almost directly over their heads. When she heard alleged Justin’s reply, she turned to him. She could not help but pity him and his left arm. The younger slytherin needed immediate medical attention and Starr knew it. “Well, let’s just hope that it would not come to a time that we would have to hurt it… badly.” She said, awkwardly, realizing she already burned its fur. “I seriously don’t want to be a murderer.” She added as afterthought.
Judging from the thickness of the trees that surrounded them, she knew they were still at least 6 kilometers away from the castle. After running for five minutes straight, Starr paused to catch her breath, not really used to having to run that far. She could feel her heart beat faster and faster, her lungs on fire. She felt hot, even her face felt hot. “You go ahead. I’ll catch up.” She pushed the younger student to the general direction of the castle. Starr knew she just needed a minute or two and she’ll be fine.

The wolf continued to roll on the ground, still confused. It couldn't move an inch at all. All the rage it felt on being burned and confused was all bottled up inside. It then thought that if ever the effects of the blasted spell wear off, they would surely die. After what seemed to be eternity for the wolf, the spell's effects wore off. The wolf then got up and clawed the ground, very angrily. After a few seconds, it then broke off into a run, with their scent serving as its guide. Growling loudly, it sprang up faster than ever, determined to catch them.

Justin just struggled to nod his head as they ran towards the castle. He knew that they were still far but they had to hurry or they would be the wolf’s next victim. He could feel the pain on his left arm and knew immediately that he had to drag himself to the Hospital Wing if wanted to get mended in no time. “I’m sure the wolf is already enraged. Once it comes back to its senses, it would absolutely waste no time in chasing us in this beaten path,” he said in reply, after a few seconds of thinking. With the full moon in its splendor, the wolf would surely be strengthened by it.
He then heard a familiar howling in the distance and he shivered; he knew that the wolf was able to come back to its senses. “Starr, we have to hurry! The wolf is closing in on us. It –“ he then looked back and saw that she stopped. She looked really tired from all the running. He then came back for her and managed to single-handedly lift her up. “I can’t just leave you behind. Not while the wolf is on the prowl now,” he then said as he began running towards the castle, with Starr on his arms. “Sorry for lifting you up so…brusquely. But it’s the only way,” he added, with an apologetic look on his face. He did not mind if his left arm was hurting, all he knew was they had to make a run for it and he just had to help her do so.

Starr felt pathetic. She was positive that the werewolf was going after them, most probably more determine to devour them both now that she confused it, and she was gasping for air like crazy and practically being the most useless person in the world. She muttered a short string of creative profanity when she was oh so rudely knocked off her feet by alleged Justin. She was quite shocked when she realized what he just did. The younger student just lifted her with one hand since the other one was rendered useless and he did it like she weighed nothing.
“It’s fine. I’m fine. Thank you. Put me down now, please.” She said after about 20 seconds of being lifted. Her emotions were mixed. She was touched for he could have just left but he didn’t… because of her. However, she was annoyed for he did not listen to what she said. Her face paled when she heard something, most likely the werewolf, catching up on both of them. “We have to go now.” She told Justin and pushed him to run in front of her. And, once again she found the strength to run, for the sake of both of them.

Justin kept on running, carrying Starr on his arms. He knew that they would have to hurry if they wanted to get away safely. Suddenly for some strange reason, Starr wanted him to put her down. His mind struggled against the idea however, his left arm was already way over its limit. "I can still keep up. Are you really sure?" he asked uncertainly. He then had to put her down for his arm began to throb uncontrollably. Good thing he managed to do so gently.
Suddenly, he could hear the wolf's growls getting louder and knew that it was about to close in on them. He then felt Starr pushing him to run and then she did too. He felt relieved knowing that she was okay and that she had enough strength to stand up and run. He began to run once again, very fast. Trying hard not to get caught because one second of delay would ultimately cost both of their lives. Although he could fight it, he would have to make do of his right arm or else he would be in trouble.

Starr landed on her feet gently and nodded. “I’m positive that I’m fine. However, I can’t say the same for our safety. I bet the werewolf is so enraged now after what I did.” Starr sighed and for the first time that night, she regretted going out to meditate in the middle of the forbidden forest. Obviously stepping into the forest was strictly prohibited for various reasons and one of the biggest probably was the big chance of being bitten, mauled or killed by a stray werewolf. Starr muttered something about being stupid as she ran with Justin.
Starr felt like their strides were as short as the time they have before the werewolf closed in on them and the distance they needed to cover too long; never having felt so desperate in her life, Starr frantically thought of spells and strategies that would hopefully be enough to save both their lives. Starr removed her jacket and charmed it toward the left. "That should confuse the werewolf." She told Justin. "You might want to do the same. Although I recommend that you throw it to the right side." Starr felt the cold bite her skin as the cool wind pelted her. She casted a subtle charm to warm herself.

Justin merely nodded in affirmation at what Starr had said. Their safety is definitely in jeopardy right now. With the forest as the wolf's territory, the probability of them being caught was already getting higher. No thanks to the wolf's fast recovery. "Don't worry about that, I guess if worse comes to worst he could still be able to defend ourselves," he then said, as they kept on running. However, at their sluggish pace and fatigue, it wouldn't take long before the wolf closes in on them.
He then saw Starr remove her jacket and charmed it towards the left side. It was indeed a good strategy, since they would be able to confuse the wolf's sense of smell. When she asked him if he might want to do the same, he just nodded. He then struggled to unbutton his polo shirt and after a few seconds, had managed to take it off and throw it towards the right side. He felt the coldness of the wind sting his bare torso but he paid no mind. At least they'll be able to stall the wolf long enough.

The wolf then continued running very fast, apparently very keen on catching the both of them. It really wanted to devour the two humans into pieces when they get caught. The wolf's nose then picked up the scent of the two humans and it bared its teeth for they were already near him. Suddenly, the wolf stopped for it has arrived to where he had smelled the scent. It looked on the ground and it bared his fangs in anger for it was tricked once again. It then set off to go after the humans, however, it ran much slower because the moon was already beginning to wane.

Starr nodded at his words, feeling relieved that he did not mention something about him trying, once again, to be dramatically heroic or anything of the sort. Foolishness and unnecessary heroics wouldn’t save their lives. As they continued running, Starr struggled to catch her breath as she grew more tired every second. They still needed to cover quite a distance to get away and she knew that before they would be able to do that, the werewolf would manage to catch up with them at least once. Starr sort of felt more confident when Justin followed her advice and threw his polo shirt off.
“I think we successfully tricked the thing again.” Starr gasped, slowing down slightly. It was better to go slow than to go too fast and end up having the need to rest for a long time. Starr heard some dried twig crack behind them. Damn it. “We can’t run out of ideas. Do you have any ideas?” Starr asked the younger student, growing more apprehensive as the seconds turned to minutes.

Justin slowed down his run into more of a hurried jog as he felt that they were already covering quite a long distance. Honestly, he was already tired. Even though he was athletic, the mere fact that they were trying to run from a creature that can run twice as fast would really make someone very tired. They were still far off from the castle and a long enough delay would cost them their lives. He merely nodded as Starr was able to confirm the fact that they managed to trick the wolf once again.
Suddenly, Justin managed to look up at the moon. He then noticed that it was already beginning to wane. Now, he knew that the wolf must have already feeling very weak because it was the full moon that gives it the strength it needs to strike lethally. Although the sound of a cracking twig made him realize that it may still be able to catch them, no doubt. He then placed his hand on his bare chest and felt his heart beating really fast. “We don’t need to do anything. By now, the wolf will have already slowed down, because the moon is now beginning to wane,” he then said slowly.

Starr’s pace was getting slower and slower and at the rate Justin was going, the two of them won’t really make it to the castle in time… unless, some divine-like intervention happened. Justin’s statement made her look up to the moon. He was right, it was waning indeed but it was waning too slowly for Starr’s liking. She muttered something under her breath as she tried to speed up her jog. “Why can’t it wane faster?” Starr asked rhetorically in frustration.
Confundo, incendio, stupefy, petrificus totalus… A series of spells pelted Starr’s agitated mind as she thought of how she was going to save their lives when the thing finally caught up with them. She was so focused on planning for the future and failed to notice a low branch. Starr staggered backward due to the impact of the collision and cried out in pain. She freaked out when she touched the side of her head and felt warm liquid oozed out of a small cut. As she calmed herself, Starr heard another twig cracking somewhere near them and she eyed alleged Justin. “I think it’s nearing…” She said in a voice barely above whisper, still freaked by her head wound but she continued jogging.

Justin then increased his pace, knowing that they must not be complacent even though the wolf must have already weakened. He then looked up at the sky again and realized that the moon isn't waning any faster, although there were evident signs that it was waning indeed. He then noticed that the trees were beginning to lessen, meaning that they were almost near the castle. "Just a few more meters, we're almost there," he then shouted as he increased his foot speed once more.
He then looked at Starr once more and he could see from her expression that she was thinking of ways of fighting the wolf once it closes in on them. He just smiled for he knew better than to disrupt her at that moment in time. He was shocked when she was knocked against a tree branch and even more shocking was the blood that was oozing from the cut she sustained. He then slowed his pace and fell in step with her. "Are you alright?" he then asked frantically. When she then said that it was nearing, Justin quickly placed his arm around her shoulder and guided her so that their pace would be the same. If it was the wolf indeed, they would surely be dead men.

The tried to hasten her strides to catch up with alleged Justin but to no avail. Luckily, he seemed to have noticed her log behind and he slowed down. She took out a handkerchief to wipe the blood on the side of her head and winced as the material touched the skin. Starr was busy glaring at the tree branch as she ran when alleged Justin finally fell in to pace with her. “I don’t know.” She said truthfully, annoyed with the way she was feeling and at the same time annoyed with herself.
She let herself be guided by alleged Justin toward the school. He was right. They were about 800 meters away from the castle and Starr could not help but be relieved. It had been a long night for both of them and Starr wanted nothing more than to have a bed beneath her body, a pillow under her head and a comfy blanket to cover her body. The sixth year cringed as she heard a low growl somewhere behind them. She closed her eyes briefly, hoping it was just her imagination.

The wolf was beginning to slow down. It felt weak and tired for the first time. It tried unsuccessfully to shake off the feeling of fatigue; however, he could feel it washing down on him. It could no longer keep on the pace it had set earlier. Suddenly, the moon was already hiding behind the clouds and it became apparent that the wolf was starting to morph once again. Until, the unmistakable appearance of a human was visible where the wolf once have been.... Henry lay down on the ground, very tired from all the running he did. He then sat up his hand on his head, feeling his way into a throbbing headache. He was thinking of what atrocity he must have done while he was not himself. He then felt sorry for the people whom he had chased down earlier. He then smelled something burnt and realized that it was his hair. The wolf's fur must have burned earlier. He then got up and limped slowly back to where he had come from.
