A starless sky. A moon concealed by dark clouds. An eery silence. This was exactly Mathilda's kind of favourite night. She found solace in the darkness, and even better than that very few students ventured outside. Mattie was sprawled on the moist grass with a smile plastered on her pale face. She folded her arms under her head, making it pop off the ground. Mathilda had her eyes closed and she was soaking in the silence. Her brow shot upwards and she tilted her head to one side, "Now?" she asked. Mathilda heaved a sigh of exasperation and pushed herself to her feet. With a sigh she extended her hands in front of her, allowing her fingers to curl as if she was holding someone's hand. Mathilda started jumping around and dancing grouchily. Her frown was soon replaced by a huge smile and she started giggling to herself.

Theodore extinguished his wand light as he reached the shore of the lake. He emerged from the lake, still wearing his wet robes. He placed a heating charm on the robes absent-mindedly and was actually heading back to the castle when he noticed some movement to his right. Theodore wandered over toward the person who seemed to be jumping about. As he approached, he realized it was Mathilda from his house. He did not realize though that his robes were now dry and that the spell's heat was now working with his own body's heat. Theodore came up to Mathilda and with his wand still in his hand he bowed before her. "You seem especially warm-spirited tonight." Theodore could not say the same thing about himself but he wasn't doing too badly. "Theodore Nott be my name, dear."

Mattie always had fun when Tasha was around. And thankfully her sister rarely left her side. Mathilda stopped abruptly when she heard a voice behind her. She spun around with a dangerous expression creasing her pale face. Mattie rolled her eyes at the sight of Theodore. He was the smart ass who pretended not to see her sister and then have the nerve to say she used a charm to make herself invisible. Mathilda shook her head in disgust at the thought. She raised her eye brows at the introduction and kept staring at him for several seconds before grunting, "I am Mathilda Furner. And she's my sister Natasha."

Theodore gazed at Mathilda as though she had just treated him unfairly. His mouth was open slightly. He watched her closely though as she introduced herself and her sister. Theodore could not see anyone else, just as he hadn't seen anyone before during their class together. Theodore was not completely sure if she was insane or if he was delusional. Perhaps he was in the cold water for too long. When Theodore suddenly felt himself grow very hot, he thought that must be true. Theodore wiped his sweating forehead with a hand. Or was that just water from the lake? "Glad to meet you two." He spoke with a slight strain. He looked around as he spoke. Just in case he really was going mad and there was someone else there the whole time. "How old are you girls?" Theodore could not spot the one called Natasha but he wanted to include her anyway. Perhaps she was like a thestral? If he knew some secret she would be revealed to him.

Mattie raised an eye brow and snapped, "The pleasure is certainly not ours." She decided that Theodore was not a nice person and that she did not like him. However, his question being directed to both girls made her reconsider. A small smile appeared on her face and she stepped towards him with her arms folded behind her back. "I am fifteen and Tasha is thirteen." Mathilda lowered her voice and said, "She's in Ravenclaw. I don't mind, but our father is not to know. If you see him don't tell him." Mattie gave a small shrug and asked, "How old are you?"

Theodore swept his forehead with the back of his hand once more. There was more perspiration. He groaned under his breath to himself and began to shake, believing he was under a fever. Mathilda's comment made him feel unwelcome. Theodore tried to smile but he felt far too ill. "I have never heard that before." Theodore began to chuckle. He back up a few steps, having lost his balance. But he saved himself from falling. When she stepped toward him, Theodore shrank half a foot from slouching. "I am fifteen. Born in October. Fourth year." Theodore considered her comment for a moment. He swallowed air desperately. He then looked back at the lake and remembered he put the heating spell around himself to dry off. Theo drew his wand and dispelled the enchantment quietly. "Sorry. Your father doesn't know your house?" Theodore rubbed his forehead, leaving it a light red.

"You forget to mention the day you were born in," she said sarcastically. Mathilda dropped to the ground, sitting down crossed leg. She jumped slightly on the spot and howled, "Oww Tasha. That hurts. Move a little bit." Mattie pushed at something on her leg and then started caressing thin air. She looked downwards and smiled. "I like your hair. It's just like daddy's." Her eyes shifted in Theodore's direction and explained, "Daddy has brown hair." She touched her own blonde mop and made a face of disgust. Her forehead creased at the boy's question. She shook her head and replied in a hushed voice, "If Daddy knew about Tasha, he would hurt her. But I keep her safe."

Theodore lifted his brow. He rubbed his chin for a moment. "The thirteenth." Theodore grinned. He watched as Mathilda sat. He raised his brow again when she jumped. Theodore felt she was a bit too distracted by the invisible Natasha. When she finally said something that was somewhat directed toward him again, Theodore was already angry that she was ignoring him. "I see." Theo felt the night's chill finally touch him and it soothed him. "Brown hair? He watched Mathilda react to the touch of her own hair. "So that explains why you're hiding her." Theodore stayed on his feet. He kept gazing down at Mathilda. "Your father is Professor Furner?"

Mathilda rolled her eyes when he actually gave her the day. She heaved a long sigh and nodded in response. "Yes brown hair. Mine is blonde, like mother's. And that makes father angry," she said softly. Mattie leaned back and stared up at the night sky. "We do not like making father angry. But it happens," she informed Theodore. His next words took her by surprise. Nonetheless a grin appeared on her face; she was pleased that he knew her father. Mathilda rolled her head in the boy's direction and replied, "He is. Do you follow one of his classes?"

Theodore's own hair was yellow as well. He was angered further by Mathilda's hatred of it. Though she hadn't denounced his hair and proclaimed a decent enough reason for holding such a grudge, Theodore wondered if there was any way to change her mind. "-rhaps I could kill father?" Theodore mused. A dangerous habit of his to think aloud. Even so common that Theodore was not sure if he had done or not. "No, sadly. I heard the signing process was rather interesting." Theodore began a coughing fit suddenly. He pounded his chest with a fist and his cough seemed to calm. "I mean that, what I have heard of him seems like fairy tale. Rowena and Godric; hire someone like us. But then, I am a student here. Maybe they aren't so wise."
