Brutus clutched the store clerk's neck in both hands. A frightened boy who must have been the man's son watched in horror. Though Brutus had not pushed them to the point of hysterics yet. "That price is much too high. Don't you think, boy?" Brutus looked down at the scared child and he could feel the clerk turn to jelly in his hands. The man was hardly audible when he told Brutus to just take the wand. Brutus turned his gaze back to the clerk and glared at him coldly. "I'm no thief. Usually I kill people for calling me dishonorable. Now I promised my mother I wouldn't kill you unless I had to." Brutus released the clerk and stepped back. He pulled a single silver sickle from his robe pocket and placed it on the counter in front of the man. "You should know not to insult your customer's, sir."
The clerk was rubbing his neck by the time Brutus had left the shop. If it had been up to him, Brutus would have just killed the man and his boy. But his mother was smarter than him and did not like to draw too much attention. It had, of course, seemed a strange request she had made. To take his wife's body. Though he had accepted as soon as she had ordered it. Brutus never disobeyed his mother. He could not help but wonder why she had chosen his wife in particular.
As he tried to make sense of the riddle, Brutus started thinking of how attractive his wife had been. It was his mother now. Perhaps that was her reason. Did she think that Brutus thought she was ugly before?
Brutus halted as soon as someone dared stay in his way as he walked. It was a woman. He siezed her by the arm and glared, "What is this? Do you challenge me?"
