The dark widow watched impatiently as the man stopped. The web had been laid though its spinner had not anticipated the man's aging body. The executioner was left with instruction to abandon his position if the prey was late. It was not long before Morgana began to ponder her next decision herself. She kept her attention fixated upon Alfie as she began to plan killing him herself.
She did not need to watch him herself. There were many beasts who were happy to serve a mistress. Morgana could watch Alfie from her home. A small metal and wood crossbow sat across the chair next to her; where an even deadlier weapon had been placed only moments earlier. He was out of reach now. If Morgana made some magical contact with him, Alfie might be able to detect it.
When Alfie stood, Morgana realized the window was closing swiftly. She abandoned her contact with the infant bird, stressing its underdeveloped mind. It died instantly before Alfie's eyes. Morgana herself had already lifted her crossbow up and headed for the door to the stone and wood cabin. She disapparated upon passing the threshold.
Morgana descended upon the forest and drew up the small crossbow to her breast. She assumed Melkor would have detected her presence immediately and so she held her wand before her and began casting curses to mask herself. She began to remove herself from her initial position. She walked but quickly, a wand in her left hand and the crossbow in her right. She was hardly ready quite as well as Brutus for this work, but Alfie was a head that Morgana could not pass up. The plan now was simple, wait for a reaction.
