Vasilisa ran up the steps, her heels clicking on the stone steps. She held a letter firmly in her hand. The ring on her finger was a slight comfort to her. She carried on up the steps, and huffed as she reached the top. She panted shortly, the run up the steps had tired her out. She ran her hand over her light purple dress, and loosened her grip on the letter. She walked into The Owlery, and looked around for her owl Pasha.
Spotting the red fluffy owl, she called it down ”Pasha” she whistled. The ginger owl flew down to her shoulder, and nudged her neck affectionately, Lissa giggled as her owls fluffy feathers tickled her neck. The ginger owl was rather a sight to see, since he was a bright ginger colour and had such fluffy feathers he looked rather goofy.
She placed the letter in her owl's claws, and saw a glimpse of her own handwriting and the words 'Pascal Ko-' writen on the front before Pasha took off flying towards Russia. She felt sorry for the owl. Having to fly all that way, but she wasn't about to go back home with her father. She was happy with Aleks. The two girls were happy together, and Aleks was like her mother.
She made her way to the stairs and watched her owl grow smaller on the horizon till she could barely make out the orange blob. She leant on the stone wall, and sighed. She had written to her father detailing how her schooling was going, and everything else he wanted to hear. That the damned Muggleborns were ruining her education and more, but most of it was lies. Lies that she told her father to make him happy. No doubt he'd have a fit if he knew how she really felt. She sighed again, and her hands gripped at the stone wall. She had briefly glimpsed down and was now imagining how much it would her to fall.
Well, Lissa already knew. As a young girl she had fallen down the family home stairs (she was pushed by Vladimir, but she does not remember that part) and had broken her legs in two places, she remembered the pain of having her legs broken, set and then healed with magic, and so she had developed a fear of falling as well as of the dark. She gulped, and stepped back away from the edge. She looked at the sky to see the sun was setting. It would be dark soon, and Lissa wanted to be inside by then.
