A final howl ripped the silence of the coming dawn. The beast collapsed onto its front. Another sound issued from its throat, a warning whimper. Nero's other half, was extremely defensive, having recieved the brunt of Marcus' torment. It was an extremely paranoid creature. Distrustful of humans and vampires. Much unlike the boy.
The excess of hair now retreating, his facial features now reforming back into their usual self, Nero lay upon the cold ground. The beast had dug up much of the soil around it in its throes. Nero himself now was covered in the black moist of it. He lay face down, resting for a time. Now concious, he realized what had happened in the night, he had always been used to the monthly routine.
The sun shed light over the grass, but had yet to reveal its face. Nero's tongue began to wiggle around something in his mouth. He turned his head to the side and spat; thinking that it had been soil. He then opened his eyes to find an eye staring back at him, though its owner was nowhere in sight and it was slashed across. Nero flinched and sprang up off the ground as quickly as he could. He knew there was no danger but he had never had such a personal encounter with one of his victims in human form.
With his head down, Nero began the trek toward his school's ship. He had scouted the land before the moon grew full, so that he could know his way back. Nero noticed someone ahead with a lit torch in their hand. He covered himself as best he could with what was left of his trousers and approached with his gaze still at the ground. He meant to ignore the morn's intruder.

There was so much more about the Hogwarts castle and more important - the castle grounds. Nobody had told them anything about the impressive dark forest, surrounding the building. It was a sight to behold. At least, Brigit thought so, sitting on a high branch of a tree and looking down to the path. She was alone in complete darkness, but it didn't prevent her from seeing everything which moved below her.
The dawn was near and Brigit knew that she had to be fast and go back to bed before anyone suspected anything. She jumped on the ground, gently and silently landing on her feet. She was about to turn around and run towards the Beauxbatons carriage, when she heard a sound - so strange and unexpected that she almost screamed in shock. They had werewolves at Hogwarts? Nobody'd mentioned them before.
The girl was incredibly fast, moving in the shadows, avoiding the weakest beams of the rising sun. She was running back towards the castle. There was a figure before her, she could see it quite clearly now. It was impossible to say whether it was male or female, friend or foe. Brigit stopped and hid behind the wall. She most certainly didn't want to scare one of her hosts; she was after all a Beauxbatons champion, so she had to act like one. Brigit noticed a single torch on the stone wall above her. She reached out and grabbed it, managing to take it without too much effort. Now that her pale face was illuminated by the light the torch was casting, the girl left her hiding-place and slowly approached the boy who seemed to be ignoring her completely.
"Hello?"

Nero decided to chance another glance toward the advancing intruder. A short chuckle escaped his lips as the light of the torch she carried revealed her identity to him. Nero covered his mouth with a hand. He had always considered the school champion to be a self-centered brat. Of course, they had never actually met and he was basing that opinion on blind assumption. Perhaps there was a tinge of envy to his animosity toward her. Since he had not been selected as a champion.
Nero's glance left Brigit as quickly as it had taken to her. He tried to pass without looking again. But the sound of her voice overwhelmed him, he turned toward her without a thought. He stared quite dumbstruck for a moment. After a moment he caught himself up with time and nodded his head abashedly. "Hi." He responded quietly then turned his head to one side.
Nero sighed to himself. "This weather is atrocious!" A thick fog had enveloped them seemingly instantly. Nero turned and tried to penetrate the fog to no avail. A yawn escaped him forcing him to realize how tired he was. After a moment of searching, he finally gave up. Turning to Brigit he grinned awkwardly and shrugged.

Brigit let out a small sigh, rather disappointed to see just another fellow Beauxbatons student. She had to be honest and admit that she had expected to meet a handsome dark stranger who would perhaps give her a tour around the castle or make her laugh with some amusing story. Brigit wasn't sure that she had ever actually talked to Nero back in their school. The girl was eager to learn what he was doing out so late at night. However, she had no idea what to answer, if he asked the same question. After all, she was the school's champion and therefore had to be an example for everyone else.
Nero didn't seem to be particularly interested in her and Brigit couldn't blame him. She gave him a small polite smile, but believed that he had missed it. The boy looked so strange, as though he was confused or perhaps even startled. Brigit raised an eyebrow at his remark about weather. "Yes, it is." was all she could manage, so they remained standing in silence for some time. Nero yawned and Brigit just shrugged, annoyed by the awkward silence. "What are you doing here?" she asked kindly as a response to his sudden grin.

Nero noticed her sigh. He guessed what it might have been for. Though his guess was wrong. Assuming that she was displaying how unimpressed she was with him, he did not see need to change his opinion of her just yet.
He had indeed missed her smile. He was on the verge of expressing his half-hearted well-wishes in the tournament and announcing his departure when she spoke up again. Her voice had a disturbing effect on his thought, it seemed. Though he would not notice until she made query and dispelled the effect herself. Panic rose in him, "Nothing." He rose a hand behind him and scratched the back of his neck softly. "I was just walking. Couldn't sleep." His grin had disappeared in his panic.

Brigit was still looking at Nero and a small friendly smile appeared on her face. She thought that she was quite a nice person, who didn't usually judge other people until she came to know them. So what if Nero wasn't her friend - it didn't mean that she would be impolite or mean to the boy.
When she spoke to the boy, there was a change in his facial expression, but Brigit couldn't tell whether it was because he was annoyed with her or because he simply didn't like her. She seemed to be making him nervous, even though it wasn't her intention. She decided not to give up yet and she spoke again. "That is understandable. I couldn't sleep either. There has to be something in the air." Brigit suggested, offering him another small smile.

Nero found his awkward grin again. He was certain that Brigit would see through him. He couldn't rule out the chance that she already knew what he was either. After all, his father was infamous as a collector of demonic servants. But perhaps that infamy only existed in the Muggle world. He had by now realized that the wizards were not particularly interested in all Muggle eccentricities. "I have trouble on full mo- er, nights without my mother. She is usually there to look after me. To comfort me."
It took a moment for Nero to realize how pathetic that sounded. He was so panicked by the idea of his insecurities getting passed throughout his peers' conversations that he confessed, "My father is cruel at night time. During the day, I usually never see him. But at night, he is mean to us all. Everyone near him suffers. He only enjoys the pain of others. But mother protects me when she is able to."

Brigit giggled when Nero grinned again. She seemed to be making him nervous, even though she didn't want it. It was still funny to her, though. Brigit raised an eyebrow suspiciously, after hearing his words. "You have a problem when you're without your mother?" she asked. It was hard for her to comprehend. Vampires weren't exactly known as the best parents or most sociable creatures. Brigit and her brother had been raised to be as independent as possible. The girl looked at the boy, utterly confused.
Brigit let out a small sigh, out of compassion and genuine sorrow. She felt sorry for the boy, nobody deserved to be treated like that. "But you're safe at school. Your father can't hurt you while you're at school. And once you graduate and become an adult wizard, you can leave him. You and your mother should leave him." Brigit suggested passionately, looking sadly at Nero. She wanted to help him, but didn't know how.

Nero shrugged then shook his head shamefully. Brigit's small laughter forced him to quiver slightly. He took another gaze into the distance trying to pierce the heavy fog around them. Nero shook his head again at her query. "No." He bit the side of his lip, realizing he had made a large misstep. He backed away from Brigit a step and shook his head again.
Now fully preoccupied with finding his way to anywhere, Nero began to stare off into the distance. He could make out the castle of Hogwarts above the fog itself. He wondered if he might go there. "Well, of course. But all of that is easier said than done." Nero looked at her again, her passion seemed sincere enough. Though admittedly he was no expert on sincerity. "It'd be like trying to break a nasty habit."
