Mavado clasped his hands together as he sat awaiting his only remaining child. He had heard that his son had been killed. But knew he could do nothing about it. He had sent an owl to Morgana Hydra Gaunt asking her to meet him at this inn. He did not even know if she would answer his call. He knew that she and her mother were close and that her mother told her lies about him. It was when Mavado had been confronted by Meggy asking him about these lies that Morgana told her that Mavado began to fear for his life.
He sipped away at his butterbeer lightly, though she was more than an hour late, Mavado wasn't going to give in lightly. After a few moments the door was flung aside. Mavado turned to face the door in earnest but it was only an old hag standing in the doorway. He sighed and took another swig of the butterbeer. A barmaid then approached his table, probably to tell him to go home. He drank deep from his mug again tilting his head back to get the bottom of it. He threw the empty mug down onto the table in front of him. "Yes. Bring another. And take that one back and bring out another fresh one for my daughter."

"Are you going to sit there all day?" Lysandra asked as she entered the dorm room.
Morgana had been perched on her bed for hours with what seemed to be a letter clutched between her fingers. Looking up at her friend, the brunette simply shrugged. She did not want anyone to know what was going on... in truth she could hardly believe it herself. Her father was in Hogsmeade and he was expecting her. Meggy was thorn between meeting him and disappointing her mother - she knew that Morgana Senior would not be pleased with the encounter. In the end she rose from her bed to change out of her school robes and into her father's favourite dress, knowing that she was already very late. Before leaving the dorm room, Morgana set the letter on fire and left no traces of it behind her. She tightened her cloak around her shoulders and then sneaked out the castle. Meggy did not enjoy breaking rules but this was for a good cause or so she thought. She wondered if her father knew about Nero, or if she would have to tell him herself... Meggy hoped not. Death was a subject that gave her the chills. When she finally reached the inn, Morgana paused outside the door. All of a sudden she started doubting her decision and slowly backed away, only to walk into an elderly woman who shoved her to the ground. Ignoring the scrapes on her legs and arms, the girl gathered her courage and stood up. Pushing the door open she peeked inside; her eyes scan the dimly lit room until they rested on Mavado.

Mavado heard the door open once more, though he was quite tired of being disappointed so he did not look immediately this time. He flash a toothy grin at the inn keeper and wondered if he ought to leave now. He sighed but decided he might as well stay for a final drink. Finally recalling the door opening once more, he turned toward it expecting to find nothing again.
He froze at the sight of the girl, his jaw dropped but his lips did not part. He sat immobilized for a moment, unsure if he should let her know everything or if he should let her come to terms with the fact that he wasn't quite dead yet. Finally, his hand waved her toward him beckoning her. He did it eerily slow, a habit he had developed while being 'possessed' by Death.

After leaving Mavado's table the inn keeper approached the young girl. Frowning he gestured at the door and said, "Either you come in or get out."
All Morgana could do was nod her understanding and then quickly shuffle inside and let go off the door, which promptly swung close behind her. For the next few minutes the Ravenclaw student remained rooted to the spot, simply staring at her father. When he looked in her direction and their eyes met, she gasped out loud. It was truly him, it was! she thought excitedly - without betraying any emotion. Mavado summoned him and the girl could not help but narrow her eyes at his gesticulation. Pushing the thought to the back of her mind, Morgana inhaled deeply and slowly walked towards him. She stopped by his chair and started chewing on her lip, a habit she knew her father disliked but one she could not help.

After beckoning Morgana, Mavado turned back into his table. He held his hands in front of him, watching them as he wrung them together. Ever since he had learned of his and his son's deaths; Mavado was prone to bursts of anger. He was not very close to either of his children, but he did not loathe them. He turned his head to Morgana as she came up beside him. His lip raised, his teeth tightly pressed together. Mavado turned and struck Meggy's cheek lightly. "I may have been declared dead, but you could still act normally around me."
When the barman came back, Mavado grasped him by the wrist tightly as he placed the two drinks for them. With his free hand, Mavado reached into his pocket even as the man shook violently in an attempt to free himself. Mavado rose from his seat, so that the man would escape his grasp. His hand came out of his pocket and Mavado put a few gold galleons into the man's hand. "Don't choke on it." Mavado warned the man as he released him. The barman stepped backward upon being released. He glared at Mavado though a trace of fear remained in his eyes as he glanced down at the tome at Mavado's side. Shaking his head, the barman left without a word.
"Sit." Mavado turned his attention to Meggy, he was still standing as he gestured toward the chair across from him. "You'll regret it if you do not." Mavado gazed darkly at Meggy. Still unsure just how loyal she had been to the devil woman.

A shiver ran down Morgana's spine when she saw the look on her father's face. Lip raised and teeth pressed tightly together was never-ever a good sign. Before she could realise it or react, Mavado's open palm collided with her cheek. Although the slap had not been hard enough to cause pain, her sensitive ivory skin instantly reddened.
Clutching a hand to her cheek she replied pliantly, "Yes father. I beg for your forgiveness."
The conversation between father and daughter was interrupted by the barman. Morgana shocked by Mavado's actions wanted to shout at him to spot. However, knowing her place she remained silent. Long after the barman had been dismissed, Meggy remained standing and shaking. It had been so long since she had last seen her father that he felt like a stranger.
Sit. You'll regret it if you do not, echoed maliciously in Morgana's head. Fearful that her father might strike her again, or worse, she quickly slipped in the seat across from him. Meggy folded her arms in her lap and stared down at her cloak, which was parting to reveal a small part of her dress. She wondered about her mother and how much heartache this encounter will cause her.

Mavado put his fingers over his moustache. He always did so when he wanted to calm himself down. He slouched over his new drink and peered across the table at Morgana. He looked distressed but was too proud to admit it. He was unsure how to start speaking to his daughter. He could not remember speaking to her more than a few times a year before.
Mavado finally sat up straight and took a drink from his glass before he spoke. "You have to understand. This is very difficult." Mavado placed his drink back onto the table and resumed slouching over the table and glaring at Morgana. "Tell me. What has your mother told you; concerning me?"

The Ravenclaw student felt uncomfortable in her father's presence. Her nervousness showed in her actions; she was unable to sit still for longer than a few seconds. Assuming the second beverage was for her, Meggy automatically reached for the glass and started toying with it in her hands. She was trying to hard to avoid making eye contact with her father by staring at the liquid within the glass. When he addressed her, she did not look up immediately. Morgana first instinct was to say 'nothing' but she would be lying and both of them would know it. Swallowing the lump that had formed at the base of her throat, Meggy looked up.
"Mother... mother said... she said you wanted her dead," she finally replied while recalling the conversation with her father.
Clenching her fists she added, "I almost lost her because of you."
