Melantha stared at the walls of her room. She'd been cooped up in here a lot. She was so bored. She stood from the bed in the centre of her room, and rushed towards the door. Her hand gripped around the metal door handle, and she pulled the door open. Stepping through the doorway. She thought about what she could do. Since her aunt had moved into the home, it was far more bearable, though Melantha wasn't sure what to think about the adopted children.
She wasn't really a fan of children, though the girl was only a year younger than her. The house seemed less lonely now, and her father sent her a letter as often as possible, so she spent a lot of her time penning her replies. Melantha ran down the stairs, her feet padding against the wooden flooring.
Mel wasn't sure where her aunt was right now. She couldn't hear her in the house. So she sneaked out the door, and passed the young butler who was supposed to stop her leaving. She thought to herself for a moment before getting her broom, and flying over to Knockturn Alley. She was sure that her aunt had mentioned the place to her recently, and thought it was a good place to start looking. She started by walking idly around one of the shops she came across.
She picked up an object, and quickly put it back when it started snapping at her hand. ”Bloody hell” she mumbled before laughing to herself. A shop assistant hurried over and reset the weird device and started to explain to her what it was, but Mel hushed him and left the shop.
Melantha headed down to street. Catching a glimpse of long blond hair, she hurried up. She finally caught up with the blonde, and placed her small hand on the woman's shoulder. She hoped it was her aunt, and not some stranger. She'd have a hard time explaining that. When she saw her father's familiar figure she gulped. She was supposed to be home right now. In fact she'd asked her aunts adoptive daughter to cover for her.

Rhiannon had come to Knockturn Alley to pick up a few items, things you just couldn't get in good old Diagon. She smiled as she saw her brother-in-law in front of her. She hadn't planned to run into him today, but she would certainly be glad for his company. Spending time with her brother-in-law always put her in a good mood. She wondered if he would come back to the manor with her once they were done to see his daughter. She knew the teenager missed him, even if she didn't say it out loud. She opened her mouth to ask him if he would be coming back to the manor with her when she felts someone place their hand on her shoulder. Her brow furrowed and she frowned slightly before turning to see who it was.
Melthana? She blinked, thinking for a moment that she might be seeing things. No, the girl was really there, how odd. She was sure she had told her niece to stay home, and told one of the butlers to stop her from leaving. Obviously, he had drastically failed in that. Really though, she shouldn't be so surprised. When Melthana wanted to do something, nothing would get in her way. Certainly not some rule. She sighed and shook her head with a small smile on her face. "I suppose I shouldn't be surprised." She said to the younger blonde, "Let me guess, you asked Adrienne to cover for you if I got back before you? You are so like your mother," she told her with a good-natured smile. She glanced back in Salazar's direction, not sure if he had seen them yet. "I believe I'll let you explain this to your father though. Hmm?" She told her softly, still slightly amused but also worried about people making the connection between Salazar and Melthana if they saw them together.

Salazar was in knockturn alley to pick up a few books on dark magic, he thought it would be a perfect gift for his daughter, as he looked at other objects as well though couldn't find anything interesting, he just bought the book and left the shop, walking around the alley, looking at the different artifacts in view. It was better shopping here than in diagon alley as he kept looking at the shops, wondering if he'd find anything interesting in them.
He went inside one of them but didn't find anything important, except something that used to belong to Morgan le Fay, he bought it for a hefty fee as he left the store, unaware of the both girls present until his snake crawled away from him as he looked at his creature, it quickly went toward his daughter and Rhiannon. Salazar looked up, seeing his daughter here, did not please him at all, he looked around to make sure people wouldn't hear them as he got close. "Rhiannon what's the meaning of this, why did you bring her here, she should be home, it's dangerous to wander around in knockturn alley!" He shouted, furious that no one listened. He looked over at Melantha completely furious.
"This isn't a perfect place for children to venture in, there is a lot of people that could harm you here, a lot of unstable wizards and witches."

She gave her aunt a wide and hopefully innocent smile. Though Mel was anything but innocent. She disobeyed her father and her aunt all the time, but that was not the worst of it. She was an unruly child, unable to learn from her 'mistakes'. “It was only natural I would want to be out of the manor, having been cooped up there for so long” she spoke to her aunt. She rubbed the back of her neck, lightly brushing at the curly blond strands of hair, that floated around her neck. She wasn't sure what to say. She had asked Adrienne to cover for her. “That has been said before” she sighed, looking over at her father briefly. He had told her almost the same thing when she'd gone to see him in his office at Hogwarts.
She wondered if her aunt knew anything about it. Mel genuinely liked her aunt. “In Adrienne's defence, I did... persuade her to cover for me” she grinned in amusement. Of course Adrienne hadn't wanted to cover for the Slytherin girl. It would get her in trouble. She coughed when her aunt told her she'd have to explain to Salazar. She knew it was stupid to be out here, somewhere so open, but she didn't mind the risk... her father probably would, and she would soon find out that he did mind.
As her father walked over, she shrunk back frightened of the look on his face, until he blamed her Aunt Rhiannon. She looked conflicted - Rhiannon hadn't done anything, but she didn't say anything, since he had automatically assumed that Rhiannon had taken her out. Had she been a nicer person she would have corrected her father, but Rhiannon would probably do that, so she simply replied to his second statement – the one directed at her anyway.
“I can take care of myself” she shouted back at him and looked as if she were about to say something more, but she cut herself off quickly. She'd been about to shout 'father' which would have ruined her cover and would have definitely made her father far more angry with her. “I am no child” she added repeating her statement from the other day. She crossed her arms, in an attempt to look sterner.

Rhiannon raised an eyebrow when Melthana tried to look innocent. Right, like she was really going to believe that. She knew her niece well enough to know that she was anything but innocent. "I suppose there is some truth in that." She consented softly when Melthana said it was only natural for her to want to be out of the manor. "Still, I would appreciate if you would tell me first in the future." She requested, though part of her said there wasn't much chance of that. Perhaps she would though, and Rhiannon would be able to disguise the girl before she went out.
She frowned as she watched Salazar come over. He would not be pleased to see his daughter here. "I did not bring her here! She was supposed to be at home! She found me mere moments ago actually." She told the man in a lowered voice, looking indignant at the suggestion that she would have brought her niece here. "Do you truly think so little of me, that I would risk bringing my daughter to a place like this?" She hissed, glancing around at the people who had stopped to watch them. It wouldn't do for them to look too closely at Melthana, some of the brighter ones might notice the resemblance between her and Salazar. Thankfully, the young woman also bore a resemblance to Rhiannon, since Melthana's mother had been her sister, so hopefully the eavesdroppers would be satisfied with this explanation and not give it another thought.
She looked back at Melthana when the girl shouted at her father. "Enough!" She said sternly, hoping Salazar wouldn't yell back. "Here is not the place to discuss this. We can resolve this issue at the manor. If you are truly so upset with the girl Salazar, you are welcome to come over and discuss why." She said simply. Telling him that he was welcome in his own home seemed like a rather unnecessary statement, but she would say what she had to to keep the people around them as uninformed about Melthana and Salazar's relationship as possible. The manor would be a much safer place for them to resolve this, and she could talk with Adrienne about covering for her cousin. She frowned and looked back at Salazar as if to say, she gets this from your side of the family.

Salazar looked at Rhiannon and then back at Melantha as he heard her, he was furious at his daughter now, glaring at her, he then heard her which took him aback a bit as he looked around, people were whispering, he looked back at Rhiannon uncertain on if she did the right thing or not, what if people were now thinking they were together? He looked away calmly, not responding to what she said, he wasn't sure what to say, until his own daughter did shout back to him.
"No you can't." He said as he looked at her. "You don't know the dangers of this place." He said again as he looked at her and then back to Rhiannon, she was right it was better to get back at the manor. "I told you to watch her more closely." He said, still partly angry toward Rhiannon as he looked into her eyes, catching what she was trying to say with her stare. He grabbed their hands both roughly before pulling them to a darker corner, away from the stares of others, apparating away in front of the others would of been way too bizarre for them.
"You will always be a child to me no matter if you get to your forties, I'll always see you as my little baby girl." He said, whispering, controlling his voice to not shout and then he looked back at Rhiannon. "More like your side of the family.. she is so much like her.." He said as he looked back at Melantha, it was always painful for him to see such resemblance in personality, it kept making him think of his late wife. "If the coast is clear we'll head to the manor."

"Not making any promises" Mel replied showing she was willing to think about it. Mel found it was alot more fun to disobey. Also Mel despised the feeling that she was caged. She hated being locked up. It made her chest tighten uncomfortably. She knew why she was hidden from the world but sometimes it was hard.
Mel smiled at her aunts lie. She'd not thought about that, but her aunt apparently had. Melantha felt a little like one of the pretty china dolls she had on her shelf. Supposed to stay there silent and still, what a horrid life those dolls must have. "Ive snuck out before, I'll sure as hell do it again" she added with an almost cheeky grin.
She glanced at Rhiannon, and supposed that with the same colour hair and slight build they did look as if they could be mother and daughter. She stepped closer to Rhiannon and slipped her hand into hers, trying to prove to the world just who she was. "What is there to know?" she asked her father curiously, of course the young girl had no knowledge of what went on here, but she liked to think she could defend herself against anyone. Melantha looked from Salazar to Rhiannon what the hell was she supposed to say. That she was sorry. That she'd never sneak out again? It would be lying to say so.
She almost shrieked when he dragged them into the dark corner. "We are going home then... Mum?" she said deliberatly looking at her aunt. It felt weird calling her mum. Wrong even. She scrunched her nose up. "Im no baby" she whined. She wanted to be taken seriously. 'So much like her' the words ran through her head. She wasnt stupid. She had worked out who he was referring to. Her mother, Rhiannons sister, his wife. "How do we know when the coast is clear?" she asked her brows furrowing in thought.

She shook her head softly when Salazar said he'd told her to watch her more closely. "And what would you have me do? She'll figure out a way around it eventually, you know that as well as I do." She told him simply. She couldn't blame Melthana for sneaking out, though part of her wanted to. Her niece was growing up, she needed to see the world, to spread her wings. The only problem was her parentage. If people found out she was the daughter of Salazar Slytherin, well, it could cause problems. What do to, what to do...
She smiled softly when her niece slipped her hand into her own. "We can figure this out at the manor. There is sure to be a solution that can please everyone." She said calmly. She held back a laugh when Melthana whined that she wasn't a baby. "We know you're not dear." She assured her. She was a bit startled when Salazar pulled the girls into a dark corner, but choose to stay silent about it. Her brother-in-law seemed angry enough already. She smiled sadly when he mentioned her sister. "There is truth in that. She used to sneak out all the time too. I could never stop her either." She said, looking down slightly. Oh how she missed her sister. She should be here, raising her daughter herself. If it weren't for those bloody muggles... She sighed and shook her head. There was nothing she could do about it now. She had to focus on the present. She nodded and looked at Salazar when he said they'd leave when the coast was clear. "Very well then Salazar, on your mark." She said patiently before looking back at Melthana. So much like her.

Salazar looked around for a while, there was still a lot of people but in this dark corner no one would see them, he had a little sigh as he looked back at his daughter and sister in law, he just nodded calmly before setting fire to one of the wizard's robes, creating enough distraction for them to slip away unnoticed, or at leas apparate away. He kept holding their hands as he apparated near the Slytherin manor.
Once they popped near the manor, Salazar just looked around. "ughh..I hate apparating... always feels weird." he said shaking his head as he walked over to the Manor without glancing back at the girls, nor was he gripping their hands. He shook his head calmly, apparent that he was still angry by the way he was walking toward the manor. He opened the door and turned around to look at the girls. "Hurry up, we got some talking to do, ladies first go on." he said, casting glares at them, in his eyes they did something wrong, his daughter exploring areas she shouldn't be exploring, his sister in law doing nothing to prevent this, he would also have to punish her adopted daughter for letting Melantha leave the house like this as he kept looking at them.

Melantha looked between her aunt and her father, eyebrows raised. “I'm still here” she said with a frown. They were talking about her, in front of her. She scrunched her nose up slightly. “I will do as I want to” she said, turning to look from her aunt, and then to her father and then to her aunt again. Trying to make sure they knew she was talking to both. She took a deep breath in, and then slowly exhaled, rubbing at her collar bone as she did so.
“Good.” she said simply. She was glad that 'they' knew she wasn't a child. “If you know I am not a baby. Please don't treat me like one” she spoke, aiming the comment mostly at her father. “Back to my prison” she mumbled childishly, not doing much to prove her father wrong. She even crossed her arms with a huff. She smiled when Rhiannon mentioned her mother. She'd been told she was like her, and it was quite a nice thing for her to think about really. Though she wondered what it was like for her father... living with a reminder of his dead wife. She almost wished that she wasn't like her mother. Simply to make it easier on her father.
She prepared herself for apparating. The feeling was incredibly uncomfortable, but it was so quick. She held her stomach with one hand and her head with the other. She groaned, then stood. “doesn't it just” she mumbled. She preferred to fly. In fact she still had her broom in her pocket, of course she had made it smaller before. She shoved her hand into the pocket, and touched the miniature broom. She walked in front of her father, her head tilted downwards. She was in trouble, and she knew it. Hopefully she'd be able to sweet talk and bat her eyes enough to get out of it.
