- Born Svetlana Anastasia Corwin. Daughter of Guy and Shauna Corwin. Guy is an expert jeweller and supplies the Corwins with their family headdresses of which the family has become known. Shauna is an adventurer. She doesn't get along with her husband's family and her strange occupation is blamed for Svetlana being born blind.
- Shauna is ashamed and regretful that her daughter is blind and softer than she is. But has taught her many things and loves her. It was her mother that taught Svetlana to speak Troll.
- Her first year at Durmstrang went fine. Only one other student found out her secret. But they have become friends. Svetlana receives good marks in all subjects.
