Once upon a time, Salazar had been a good friend to Godric. Although Salazar had taught Godric a good deal, Gryffindor being a half blood, never cared for his ideas of wizard superiority. There were many forms of life, Godric did not see humanity nor wizardry as the most significant of them as most others would.
Gryffindor approached Salazar's office door dressed in a plain, black robe. He bore none of his usual accesories. It was not Godric's intent to intimidate or force Salazar to see his views.
As he knocked, Godric wondered if Rowena had arrived before him yet or if it would be some time before she joined them. Godric did not like having to use her, but he knew he should have some weapon against this enemy. And he knew none more greater than she for this particular foe.
As thunder rumbled overhead, Godric foresaw a long and arduous night. But he knew good could come of any source.

Salazar sat with Carnicopia around his right arm as he flipped through papers and such. His mind was blank, blocking any reading from any other sorts of wizards who could read minds. Knowing Auriga had occulimens powers, plus Melody and her seeing ability, not to mention Lilly and her very annoying way of only caring about her looks and clothes, his students worried him. Were this truly the people to continue on his line of tyranny? He worried, for some of his students had hearts like his, Nero being a good example, but with hearts like his, it struck more worry. They would think themselves gods and try to overthrow the very puppet master that was Salazar. Unfortunately, he did not have time to think of such futuristic thoughts. He had more pressing matters.
Dressed in nothing more than his black slacks and a matching wife beater, the man ran his fingers through his shaggy hair and looked up to the door where he expected his nemesis to arrive at any moment. At one point, the two men had been friends, pals, best mates. Salazar taught Gryffindor many things and they were close. But something split them, maybe it was their stone settled views on people and status of things. Whatever it was, it severed any friendship they had.
Thunder roared as he flicked his wand and allowed his long since friend, now turned nemesis into his office, the door wide open. He could hear the thoughts of Gryffindor's float in his head as he looked up, Carnicopia, his small black with jade highlighted scales snake slither up to the head of his chair and rest there. "Yes Godric? What do you want?"

Rowena Ravenclaw was walking down the hallway, towards the dungeons and Salazar's office. She knew that Godric was coming too, he was the one who'd invited her, but for some reason it made her feel even more nervous. Rowena knew that Godric and Salazar had once been friends, but they never talked about it and she never asked anything. In times like this, she felt like a mediator between the two and she didn't like it. However, some things had to be done in order to keep the peace.
A thunder rubbled somewhere and Rowena shuddered. She was dressed in a silky blue dress with a matching robe and she felt cold. She was getting closer to Slytherin's office. When she reached the door she took a few deep breaths before she knocked on the door.

Godric tried to grin. But abandoned the attempt after only a few tries. He could feel anger rising in him as he looked across the room at Slytherin. "Surely, you recieved my letter. I hope you wont mind, I've invited Rowena. I cannot trust myself in your presence alone. I think we should wait for her." A knock came at the door and Godric turned toward it. "Ah. That must be her. If I may be so bold. . ." Godric pulled the door open for Rowena quickly.
"Good evening, Madam Ravenclaw." Godric didn't look at Rowena directly when he greeted her.
Instead he rounded back upon Slytherin. "You have declined my invitation to help sort out the goblin attack, that is fine. It is your right. But I have already recieved notices from several of your students and a few of their parents expressing their desire to be a part of this event. I have come to negotiate the restriction you have unfairly placed upon them. And if I can, convince you to join us on this venture."

Rowena raised her eyebrows in surprise, since she hadn't expected Godric to open the door. He didn't even look at her and Rowena couldn't help to notice that he looked a bit frustrated and annoyed. She could only hope that the two hadn't had some kind of argument before she arrived.
"Good evening, Lord Gryffindor." she replied. Rowena walked into the room and silently closed the door behind her.
"We have already arranged that only older students are allowed to participate in the trip, in order to prevent the younger, inexperienced children from getting hurt." Rowena moved a step forward, towards Slytherin's desk.

Salazar didn't look up as Godric entered his room. Obviously, he didn't feel safe being with Slytherin just by himself, smart man. Slytherin sighed and waved an acknowledgement hand at him and continued on his paper work that was pressing his mind more that a letter that the fool in front of him had sent. Crap! He had gotten a letter, and now for the life of him, he could not remember where he had put the damned thing. Showing nothing on his face, he put one hand into his drawers and attempted to find the letter. He knew he got it because He had a class, and the letter came flying in. Blast! Where did he put it. He didn't even read it.
Salazar sighed. Looking up as the door opened. Damn, now he remembered what the letter was about and why he didn't read it. It was about the goblin war. Gryffindor and his wildly grand and expensive adventures, and here he came to attempt and take students off on something that would take away from their studies. Fool!
Salazar slytherin stood up, pressing his palms on the desk and let out a fairly aggreivated sigh. Why must they press this matter? "You've come to negotiate? All I see is you trying to over power me by bringing Rowena" He snarled at Godric before standing up completely and crossing his arms over his chest. This was incredibly dim-witted.
"Fine, take your older students, I care not for the other students but mine will not attend! Many of my older students have far too much to study for and grasp before their graduation, to be wisked away on some silly adventure that has nothing to do with us. Did it ever occur to you that goblem wars are goblem wars! When have those filthy creatures ever aided us, all the history books show them on the opposite side and they fiercely dislike wizards, what in the world makes you believe we would even be welcome if we arrived to solve their petty problems?" Salazar exclaimed.

Godric's temper rose swiftly as it usually did with Salazar. He knew what Gryffindor was thinking and yet still had to draw his own conclusions. Godric sighed and stepped forward slowly. He was not going to allow Salazar to push him around. "Fallacious! How dare you of all people called Ravenclaw anything but fair! And you twist my position, just because I fight for the rights of Muggles and Muggleborn does not mean that I would decide in favor of Goblins. The Goblin attack was wrong, the authorities in Wizarding Greece realize that retaliation would be more detrimental to the situation. Why can't you?"
Godric shrugged. "Whether you would admit it or not, the Goblins have too much strength for the wizarding community to handle. My aim is to have them repay those that lost possessions during the attacks. Not to help them."

Slytherin rolled his eyes, Gryffindor's temper taking control of him again. One day that temper would be the death of that boy. Stepping out from around his desk, he leaned on the side and watched Gryffindor practically throw his anger at Salazar. It was never going to be anything but like this for the rest of their lives, would it? Salazar too proud to say I'm sorry, it many times was going to be the death of him, but not before Gryffindor's inability to just forgive his once friend and teacher. Maybe the two of them would never be able to forgive the other because they knew if they were friends, it would only rip a deeper gorge between them when Salazar proved his biggest point.
"I never said Rowena was unfair, Godric, I was merely stating that you brought in an unnecessary person!" Salazar sneered at the man before looking to the ceiling with pleeding eyes. Maybe merlin would whisk him away, for he did not need another headache at the moment.
"Maybe I feel that this need to constantly try and fix the worlds problem is a waste of time. If you wish to go and wisk away at your folly, be my guest Godric, Leave! We could fill your spot as teacher for the week or month, but your students will surely not need this little frollic to do many useless tasks. They should learn to only stick their neck out for people when it's necessarily, for one that does it for everyone will surely loose their head! You being my best example!" He sneered, glowering at Godric, forgetting Rowena was even there.
"I believe they are filth, and if it were my choice, they'd be whipped clean of their powers and sold to be less than elves, seeing as elves are loyal and can take orders. Goblin's have no use for the world, why should they only get a slap on the wrist?"

Rowena frowned and looked from one man to the other, as they spoke. „I'm not here to help overpowering anyone and I'm not going to be a mediator between the two of you!” then she turned to Gryffindor. “It’s alright, Godric, calm down.” She whispered and gently touched his arm. Rowena always thought of Gryffindor as a good person of high moral values, but he totally lacked wisdom, patience and even self-control.
„Salazar! “she spoke to Slytherin, slightly raising her voice. „Goblins and other magical creatures are an important part of our magic community. We ought to keep good relations with them. I know that you only value blood purity, but you often seem to forget about the purity of mind and heart. “Rowena glanced at Godric before she added: „I'm not saying that we should decide in favor of Goblins, or wizards, but only that we should be there and keep them from fighting.” Rowena put her hands on her hips. „And do you believe that I would let a single student get hurt or allow any kind of activity that would keep them from their schoolwork? “

Gryffindor wanted to leave the office now. He had never quite liked coming under the castle. And now that it was apparent that Slytherin was a lost cause, there was very little reason to stay. It was only when Rowena reached out and touched him did Godric begin thinking clearly again. He had never met someone with such an extraordinary power. Of course, it probably wasn't a proper form of magic. Gryffindor thought in that way though. It was his opinion that any sociable creature knew some magic. He couldn't remember who had put it in his mind, but he now believed love and hate to be as strong as any other magic.
"You're right." Godric spoke to the space between Salazar and Rowena. "I apologize, that was foolish." Godric did not want to force Salazar to come. He did need Salazar's students. "Every student needs to realize that there are other forces beyond these walls. To estrange every non-wizard is foolish, every Dark Wizard has known this. It is why they lie to the goblins and giants they recruit. It is well that Goblins can detect their mind's whispers and betray them first." There was evil from both sides of this fight. There was no use denying that. No use trying to find fault now.
