It was almost dawn and Esme was sitting in an empty living room. The house was so strange, empty and quiet without her children being around. Alice and Rose had gone shopping and Esme expected they'd come back home with enough clothes to dress a movie star. Her sons were out, hunting and Carlisle was still in the hospital, doing a night shift. Esme was worried about him; of course he couldn't get exhausted or tired, or even physically hurt in any way, but his co-workers might find it odd that he didn't need to rest at all. And Esme didn't feel like moving, she loved Forks so much.
Esme took a deep unnecessary breath and moved toward the window, which took less than a second. It was such a beautiful night and she was bored, so she decided to take a walk.
She'd been walking for only a couple of minutes, or maybe hours, she didn't really care. Suddenly, she heard a sound, someone was there, really near. Esme stood still for a brief second before she decided to follow the sound. Just a couple of minutes later, she found herself standing only few feet away from the surface of a lake and she wasn't alone
If my slight muse do please these curious days,
The pain be mine, but thine shall be the praise
