There was little use in preparing the first lesson right now, Professor Fletcher had already been well-prepared for over a week. However, there was always some better way of doing things in Natalie's opinion. New ways of doing old things came about everyday. Although admittedly Natalie had never devised any innovations in her craft herself, she was quick to master those any others had accomplished. If it can go wrong, it will go wrong. Natalie forgot where she'd first heard that, but it was a staple-thought for her now. Natalie always wore her dueling gear to classes, a crimson red, simple tunic. Given her subject of teaching, it seemed most appropriate. She had originally desired to be a dueling instructor, which was more to her suite. As she was quite inept at anything else, and quite desperate for a job, Natalie took the teaching position for Defence Against the Dark Arts. Up until now she had survived almost solely on selling stolen items. There was a crashing noise as a mechanism that Natalie employed to detect intruders went off. She had meant to turn the thing off during classes but had obviously neglected the deed. With a mild curse, Natalie waved her short wand. The device reset, seemingly by itself, collecting all the shards of glass that had been employed to create the sound and re-assembling them into thin bottles. It was much too early for students to have been arriving, so Natalie knew it would be a fellow Professor that came to call. She took a step back and leaned up against her desk, her wand gripped at her side in one hand. The other hand held a hold on her desk to maintain balance. As soon as the door to the room began to open, Natalie called out to the visitor. "Do not tarry at the door, please. Come in quickly and sit. And Hello." With that said, Natalie spun around the desk and moved to take her seat.

Gryffindor would have knocked, but when he heard the commotion within the door he had thought the worst. When it seemed everything was in order, however, "I apologize for entering. I heard the glass and had thought some evil was afoot." Now that he was in, Godric closed the door behind him and trod over to a chair in front of Miss Fletcher's desk. "I recieved your message. And I am quite displeased. I needed no lecture on Goblin mannerisms, undoubtedly you have heard of my dealings with them."
Gryffindor shifted in his seat. He had anticipated Slytherin's dissent to the trip but hadn't expected the Defence against the Dark Arts Professor to join Slytherin. He felt betrayed as he gazed across the desk at her. Regardless, he had known she was right. "That is why I have talked with Rowena and we have agreed that only older students should attend. This is not why I have come, however. I came to ask if you would help me organize a duelling club. I would do it alone, but Salazar would insist on being my opponent. And I'm afraid I'll need help against him. So, will you be my second?" Gryffindor had been debating whether to ask Natalie or Rowena this question. His courage finally broke however and he chose Natalie instead. Fearing that Rowena would realize his feelings toward her and confuse his intention. Truthfully, Gryffindor was vastly fearful of Slytherin and would never wish to enter a quarrel with him without aid of some kind.

Natalie had expected Gryffindor to come calling about her declaration of defiance against his foolish intervention into other's affairs. She cared not for a debate however and merely nodded at his poor defence. When he revealed that he had actually come to talk to her about some other business, Natalie was a bit surprised. She had wanted to be a duelling instructor. "Cannot deny that this proposal does not interest me. But I have to decline. For personal reasons." As much as it pained Natalie to deny the invitation, she needed her free time to prepare for classes in her first year as a Hogwarts Professor. Natalie gazed across at Gryffindor with a mix of awe and confusion. "I haven't heard, actually. I'm sorry. You don't have as high a reputation in the places I have been. I do not mean to come off arrogant, of course. Merely stating an unfortunate truth."
