The sun was shining brightly in the sky and the whole Hufflepuff household was under a lot of stress because Lord and Lady Hufflepuff had decided to throw a ball that night. The preparations had been on going all week supervised by both Hufflepuffs. The wanted it to be perfect for their eldest daughter. This would be the night when she was officially introduced to society. Helga had often attended her parents' balls but was never allowed to dance with men.
While the servants and her parents took care of the preparations, fifteen year old Helga was seated in the front garden reading a book. She had been advised by her mother to rest so that she would look her best for the ball. Helga was not particularly happy about the ball. She felt like a horse who would be inspected and checked out by countless of possible masters. Her eyes were already set on a man; Salazar Slytherin.
Slytherin was a regular to her parents' balls. He was a friend of her older brother and that meant that Helga often saw him at their house. She could not understand how a man like him was still wifeless. Helga could not quite explain what she liked about Salazar. Maybe it was his attractiveness, or his gentle ways despite his bad boy look. Whatever it was, Helga was smitten by him. The young Hufflepuff was engrossed in her book and did not notice the front gate open.

Salazar Slytherin was preparing himself, this seemed like a special day, at least his friend told him it was, a day for his sister it seems, he didn't know what it actually meant but he was for it, he put his best clothes on, looking almost like a prince in those black clothing, he also had a piece of armor on with the serpent symbol on it representing his family's crest, family that was persecuted by mudbloods, he shook his head, he shouldn't think of something like that in a day like this.
Salazar got outside of his house when he was ready, his hair a bit wet to give some sort of style as he got on top of his black horse, he might not like muggles but he loved these creatures, they were so helpful, he preferred this rather than using a broom, or apparating, specially when the Hufflepuff house wasn't that far. His house galloped fast and after at least 30 minutes he reached the house, and stopped at the front gates, using his wand to let them know that he arrived, the front gates opened and he just walked in.

Helga looked up at the sound of approaching footsteps and her face instantly lit up when she saw Salazar walking regally through the front gate. She closed her book and stood up from her perch with a smile on her face. Helga thought he looked very handsome. Salazar could easily be mistaken for a prince. "Good morning Monsieur Slytherin," she chirped in greeting. Helga was not the least surprised to see him this early. Nonetheless she asked, "Here to see Samhuel?" Helga tipped her head to the side and added, "For he is not here, but at his fiance's residence."

Salazar heard Helga's voice and instantly stopped moving, as he detected where she was he just bowed his head in a sign of respect. He wasn't so troubled by the fact her brother wasn't around, after all he didn't come here just for him, he smiled charmingly at Helga. "I'm not only here for your brother my dear, I heard it was your big day, so I came for you, to celebrate this day." Salazar said with a smile, nodding his head once more. "Would you accompany me toward the hall my dear? It would be rude of me, to be marching alone in a house that isn't mine."

The young lady looked pleased with his response and said, "Your gesture is greatly appreciated Monsieur." Helga's smile widened at his last words and she gave a nod of her head. She hugged her book to her chest and replied, "I would be delighted to."

Salazar just smiled, waiting for her to lead the way, it would be rude if he was leading the way, it's not his domain, it was his friend's domain, the domain of the Hufflepuffs, he looked at Helga calmly. "Are you nervous dear? Since today is your big day." Salazar said, waiting for her to grab his arm as it was customary while being led around the house by the lady of said house.

Helga slipped her white gloved hand into the crook of his arm and started walking towards the manor. She looked up at the question and said, "Only a little bit." She paused and let out a sigh. "I am not looking forward to being treated and observed as a prize for merlin knows what deed."

"Normal fears of girls your age my dear, don't worry about it, I'm sure you'll find the right person, just give them a chance." Salazar said, smiling at her as he was led the way, it was normal though if she felt that way, it was really different for men, they didn't have this kind of thing, some would marry while they are older then the bride, it wasn't rare for a fifty year old to marry a fifteen year old girl, though he hoped Helga would get someone much better then that.

She gave a small shrug and looked up at him sheepishly. "Maybe I have already found him. Only he doesn't know." Helga looked away and fixed her gaze ahead of her. They finally reached the door and Helga stepped inside ahead of Salazar. "Please excuse the chaos. Everyone is intent on preparing for tonight."

Salazar wondered what she meant? She didn't even see the suitors yet did she? As they arrived it pretty much confirmed that she indeed did not see the suitors yet, though he wondered if she was meeting a boy in secret, that could be bad, but he would remain shut if that was the case. "It is normal my dear, you are becoming a fine lady after all, I can imagine many suitors rounding up to have your hand."

"I do not care much about the others. They all seem too young and foolish when compared to him," she replied softly. Helga looked up at Salazar and smiled at him. He had no idea. Oh how she wanted to tell me and let him know how she truly felt about him. Helga sighed softly to herself and then asked, "Can I offer you a drink Monsieur?"

"Sure a drink would sound nice, I'd like a butterbeer." Salazar said, smiling at her warmly, so it seemed she loved an older man, he thought that was odd, he just looked at her, wondering who she was talking about, he then looked away for a while, looking if there was more guests.

She gave a small nod and followed his gaze before stating, "The library is the less chaotic." Helga changed course and started leading the way towards the library. On the way she stopped a servant and asked her to bring them butterbeer and something light to eat. The servant courtesied at the young Hufflepuff and scurried towards the kitchen.

"Huh Lady Helga.. you sure that's wise?" Salazar said, he wasn't supposed to be with her, alone that is, it was her day, he wasn't a suitor, he just looked at her, just letting her lead the way, he just gave her a little smile, at least he'll get to drink some butterbeer.

"Of course," she replied confidently. Helga gave a small shrug and added, "We will only be drinking butterbeer and enjoying each other's company." She paused and narrowed her eyes slightly. "I can ask someone to join us if you wish." Helga was not happy about that. She wanted to be with Salazar on her own and not have anyone supervising.
