Cherry usually did not venture so high up the castle unless she had to attend a class. She was feeling brave today though. She yawned as she finished climbing all the steps to the tower. It was tiring for her to know she was this high. Cherry lay next to the staircase and took a nap. She had always been prone to napping in strange places.
Three hours past before Cherry was finally roused by approaching footfalls. Cherry yawned again and stretched herself on the floor. Cherry started to get up and promised herself to bring a blanket next time she visited the towers. She was gazing at the entrance when Bahyia appeared. Cherry had not seen much of her old friends. This sixth year kept her busy in the library on most of her free time. Cherry was having such a hard time with classes, since she had to stay up late studying and then her monthly trip into the Forbidden Forest. Cherry was worried she wouldn't be able to cope with the work that came with being a seventh year at all.
Cherry looked down at the floor in front of Bahyia. "Hello." She began to greet the Gryffindor but yawned before she finished. Cherry knew she probably should have been studying now actually. She felt bad, having to choose between her grades and friends. If she was a bit smarter, she might have been able to manage both.

It was another cold night in Scotland. All students except for one wore heavy clothes; Bahyia's pixie like frame was draped in a low cut thin summer dress. Being a vampire, the Gryffindor, was unable to feel heat or cold. However she did enjoy the feeling of jack frost's fingers clawing at her marble skin, in the attempt of giving her goosebumps. With all her homework done and all textbooks memorised, Bahyia had nothing to do. She was particularly fussed about where she was in the castle, nonetheless, even she had her favourite spots. Bahyia slid off her bed and fastened her shoes in place before leaving her dorm and common room. She knew exactly where she wanted to go... the clock tower.
Very few students went up there and Bahyia absolutely loved the scene. She had not even started walking up the stairs when her sharp nose caught a very familiar scent. That of a werewolf. Vampires and werewolves were natural enemies; despite that her friendship with Cherry was a strong one. Some days were harder than others to bare her smell, but Bahyia would never hurt her friend. She didn't have much of those, and wished to keep the ones she had alive. Bahyia smiled flatly at the older girl; she wished to show more emotion in her face but was unable to. "Hey Cher," she said in response. Bahyia went to sit down beside the werewolf, making sure to keep a certain amount of distance between them.

Cherry grinned nervously, she usually thought people were angry with her though she never did any intentional evil. Cherry yawned again as Pixie sat next to her. She could prove quite nervous when interacting with others, even her friends. Cherry grinned happily and laughed at what Bahyia had called her though. Her parents named her Kynthia, but even Cherry found that difficult to say in conversation. Another name she had was Cherish, a much more simple name. Yet someone had taken to even simpler format; Cherry. She did not remember who. Even after all those alternative names, people could still come up with new ones for her. She was always surprised whenever someone though of a new one.
Cherry yawned once more and gazed around as she did, she'd forgotten that she climbed to the tower. She suddenly grew fearful, she was especially scared of the castle collapsing under them. Though she realized it wouldn't be much better if she was at the ground floor. Cherry strained to forget the fear. She turned to Pixie and gazed at the Gryffindor. She pulled her grey cloak around her shoulders protectively. "I only just realized we're up this high." Cherry tried to laugh but it sounded more like a nervous whimper. She did her best not to look at any openings, she felt if she looked out she'd be sick. "Why are you here?"

Bahyia seemed to be startled by the sound of Cherry's laughter. The things that amused her where different from the things that amused humans. She leaned her head against the wall and asked in confusion, "Did I say a joke?" Bahyia had never understood the meaning of jokes; to her they were not funny.
Another thing was causing Bahyia some confusion. She knew that Kynthia feared heights, so what was she doing up a tower? Didn't humans usually keep away from their fears? Bahyia wondered if it was a wolf thing... she shrugged the thought away and instead focused her attention on what Cherry was saying.
The Gryffindor stared at her friend uncertainly. From the tone of her voice it was evident that she was not comfortable inside the tower. She had often seen people wrap an arm around the shoulders of someone who was upset about something. Bahyia felt uncertain about doing that. Instead she patted Cherry's hand.
After being asked the question, Bahyia was silent for several seconds. "I like the quiet," she said quietly. The girl had a haunting smile on her face as she gazed up at the ceiling. Bahyia started twirling a strange of Cherry's hair and said, "We can leave if you want to."

Cherry shook her head at Bahyia, "No. I'm sorry. I am still tired. I found it amusing that my name could still be shortened. That was all." Cherry rubbed her eyes with both of her hands. She then put them down in her lap. She turned herself slightly towards Bahyia, worried she might have offended her friend.
Bahyia's pat calmed Cherry. She looked into Bahyia's eyes, certain there was no need to fear. "I am scared of quiet. It usually means someone is stalking nearby and scaring all the animals away." Cherry was always aware how different the two were from each other. But Cherry was never really the most compatible person for others.
Cherry stared at Bahyia in surprise as the younger girl began to play with her hair. She finally grinned at Bahyia. "No. We're fine here. With you." Cherry feared becoming a burden though she was confused by her own wording. "Sorry. Didn't mean to worry you."
Cherry moved closer to Bahyia and put her head on the Gryffindor's shoulder. Besides Abigail, Bahyia was the closest friend Cherry had. Although Cherry thought well of the two ladies, she wondered if that was enough. "If I go to my usual haunts, Abigail might be looking for me. I don't want to see her and I can't tell her because I can't work up her temper."

She could still not understand why calling her Cher was amusing. Bahyia gave a small shrug and offered her friend a smile. "I find your first name hard to pronounce," she admitted. Her eyes widened slightly at Cherry's next words. She shifted her position uncomfortably and said (with reference to the animals), "Sorry. That would be my fault." Bahyia smiled and brushed her fingers lightly against Kynthia's skin. Although it did not show in her expression, she was pleased that her friend trusted her. "You feel so different," she commented randomly. Bahyia gave a shrug and added, "People say I am cold. Is that true?" She was surprised to have the Hufflepuff's head resting on her shoulder. Bahyia stiffened for a brief moment, then rested her own head on top of Cherry's. When it came down to Abigail, all Bahyia could do was nod. She did not really know the other girl and wondered if she should bother getting to know her... for Cherry. Bahyia wrinkled her nose slightly and sighed. She was glad that she could control herself around Kynthia; if it had been another werewolf, she would have been long dead.

Kynthia felt Bahyia's head on hers. She was far from intelligent, Kynthia never saw a connection between her Gryffindor friend's affliction and her personality. Cherry was very wary of danger as any animal was. But she actually knew very little about vampires despite being friendly toward one. Cherry cheered up and laughed at Bahyia's question. Once again finding humour in something completely devoid of it. "I don't mind the cold. It's actually quite nice if you can get used to it." Cherry obviously did not fully understand what Bahyia meant. She shrugged and admitted, "Your name is hard to pronounce too. You know, I still wonder why my parents spelled my nickname as C-H-E-R-R-Y instead of C-H-E-R-I, I guess they're just the sort to do things the difficult way." Cherry shrugged. Seeming considerably calmer now. She did not want to think about the clever ravenclaw Veela. Abigail was the most deceptively pleasant person she'd ever met. She quite liked Bahyia's colder personality. Even if she did not understand it and only liked it because it was a release from her usual company's persona.
