Having finished her reply to her sister, Belle. Rebecca walked up the stairs to the Owlery. Her feet treaded the feather covered floor. Looking up, she looked around for her tawny owl Ella. Ella spotted her before Rebecca could see her, and flew down to land on Bekka's shoulder, the corners of her mouth curled up into a small smile. She attached the letter to her claw. "Take it to Belle, when Anna nor William are around" she whispered to her owl.
She let her fly off and watched the retreating owl, till she felt eight tiny legs crawling on her arm. Screeching she brushed it off quickly. She then looked around quickly, hoping no one had heard her. She shivered slightly, at the thought of the spider, "Boy do I hate spiders" she muttered to herself, so what she thought was too herself. She ran her hand through her hair, and looked relieved that the spider was gone. She leant against a wall, not before banishing any spider webs she could see.

She really had no ned to be up here, no one to send a letter to, no one to receive one off and no owl to visit yet Emmeline Morgan had found her feet taking her in this direction so she had let them. Wrinkling her nose as the stench of over 50 owls assaulted her senses; fighting the urge to hold her breath until she could breath cleaner air Emmeline walked slowly around the circular room taking in the sight of the slumbering owls. It wasn't a site she have seen before having never owned an owl or been the receiver of much mail but it was one she wouldn't forget, mainly for the stench.
The arrive of another person didn't distract Emmeline from her inspection, but the voice did. Turning to look at the person Emmeline took in the girls school robes and identified her as a student, she didn't care to follow this house rivalry that seemed to be going around, she liked to talk to students of each house so she did. "Spiders are not so bad" She voiced as she moved slowly from the rows of sleeping owls toward the other woman "Unless they bite" She added with a smirk.

Rebecca straightened herself up quickly, hearing the voice. "Hmm, I disagree, the biting ones are even worse" she murmured before turning around, and realizing it was a professor. "Oh" she started simply. "Professor" she acknowledged. She looked back in the direction her owl had left, wondering if Belle had the letter yet. She did trust her owl would wait till Belle was alone. Ella was a smart owl. Something she liked about the creatures, they knew what to do. She ran her hand through her hair, and looked at the Professor, "Were you sending a letter Professor?" she asked inquisitively.

Not feeling any need to reply to 'Oh' Emmeline watched the other in silence, she had nothing of interest to say and it would be rude to simply walk out after announcing her presence. Folding her hands behind her back Emmeline continued her slow walk across the room, stopping when she was still at a respectful distance from the other woman which was lucky since almost as soon as Emmeline had stopped the other turned to talk.
"Alsa not" She sighed "I'm sad to say there is no one not within the school grounds that would welcome a missive of me" As she finished speaking Emmeline turned to admire the view of the grounds; she had the feeling she had given out more information than she had intended. "And you," She paused turning back to look at the girl "...I'm sorry I can't seem to recall your name"

Rebecca's fingers curled around the material of her robes, as she held her hands against she stomach as she listened to the Professor. She nodded shortly, "I'm Rebecca Volkan, Professor" she said politely. Her hands realized their grip, and she fiddled with her necklace, the gift from her late parents. A wave of guilt crashed over her at the thought of her parents, but she pushed it back quickly. She looked again for her owl. "I was sending a letter to my sister" she said simply. Rebecca, did not have many friends, if any. She didn't really trust people.

"Your sister? You must be close then, most of the people I know with siblings don't usually spare a moment of their free time to write to them. Do you write to your parents often also?" She wasn't much of a fan of small talk but Emmeline could admit to herself that it was sometimes nice to be able to talk with someone, even if that someone was a student. As much as she had tried Emmeline still wasn't comfortable eating in the main hall where all the students could see; she was so nervous about getting food on her that she never felt to eat when she sat down, she had been taking her meals in her rooms since she had arrived something she hoped to change, maybe a bottle of wine would help before lunch.
Watching as Rebecca once again turned toward the window Emmeline wondered what it was like to so eagerly anticipate a letter from family, she had known the feeling once but it was after this one letter that she had been persuaded to cut all connections with the frail old man who had raised her. He had died shortly after she had received his letter and she only found out a month later when she called to collect her things. Of course she had visited the mans grave but she couldn't forgive herself for not being there for the only person who had been there for her. It was this discovery that took Emmeline away from England, away from the man she had allowed to dictate her actions for her, not that it mattered much now. She was back in England and she had a new forest to discover new plants and animals along with her students she felt content for now.
