Cassandra sighed, and walked to the black board she had set up outside, near her 'hut' - a hut that would be destroyed in years to come only to be re-built for a half giant - standing to the side by the Forbidden Forest was a centaur, one that had very graciously accepted to join her for her lesson. She smiled at it quickly, before writing down some notes on the board.
Centaurs.
A Centaur is a magical creature whose head, torso and arms appear to be human joined to a horse's body. However, they are their own species, and are not any kind of Half-breed.
Centaurs are known to be enthralled in divining. The centaurs of the Forbidden Forest regularly make vague allusions to seeing the future.
Centaurs on the whole seem also to be rather prideful of their species, which was evident in their testiness whenever anyone even accidentally alluded to them being "used" or in any way employed by humankind.
Centaurs also seem to favour nature over technology, the extent of their seen tools being their bows and arrows. Instead, they cast their attention upon reading signs in nature, and living in forests appropriated by the Ministry of Magic.
They are territorial creatures by nature. Cassandra looked over to the centaur, Nyurion. "Is this all right?" She asked. Nyurion simply nodded at her.

Amelie steeped into the class a second before it actually started. Why arrive too early or too late when one can be exact? Her sense of time had always been unique. She just focused on arriving on time. “Good day, Professor Prince.” Amelie greeted the professor with a smile, like always. Then she walked towards one of the trees nearby, leaned on it and enjoyed the shade. A moment later, a centaur emerged from the forest, apparently joining the class.
When the teacher began writing on the black board, she read the words and tried to understand everything she wrote. What the professor wrote was clear so Amelie relaxed and just stood there and observed the centaur as she waited for the rest of the class to arrive.

Dimitri walked to the Care of Magical Creatures class, he was a little shocked at seeing a Centaur. He walked over to Professor Prince "Professor?" he questioned quietly to the Professor, glancing to make sure the Centaur was not listening. "How did you get a Centaur into the lesson, they are a prideful species" He said lowly. He smiled at the hufflepuff, but did not know her name. "Hey" he said, before sitting down on a near-by log, and looked at the board, reading what was written.

Cassandra turned to face the seventh year hufflepuff. "Good afternoon Amelie, and please the Professor stuff makes me feel old. Cassandra please" she said with a smile. She then answered Dimitri's question in the same low tone "It is a rare privilege that I was able to call in a favour for" she smiled at him, then turned to face the centaur. Nyurion, paced around, "Calm down. Nyurion" she said softly. Picking up a brush and brushing down his coat. Nyurion seemed to like it. "That is quite calming actually, when are the other students arriving, I wish to go back to my herd" he said his smooth voice said. Cassandra smiled and laughed a little, at him "Soon Nyurion. Soon, copy down what is written if you would." she said to Nyurion and to Amelie and Dimitri. Cassandra sat and waited, she turned to the Nyurion and asked if she could sit on his back, a request he shot down immediately. His black coat shone in the sunlight, he was a tall black horse from his waist down and a rather good looking man from waist up.

“Okay, let me do it again then.” She grinned. “Good day, Cassandra.” Amelie smiled at the professor. The woman was kind and she was not like the other professors who were somewhat rude to muggleborns. The professor obviously supported Sir Godric Gryffindor’s ideals and preferred it over Sir Salazar Slytherin’s. She was kind of busy thinking about the differences between the two founders when she heard someone speak.
She turned at him and smiled almost automatically, it was in her nature. “Hello.” She beamed as she watched him seat on a log nearby. She tried to remember his name. As she wracked her brain for his name, she could not help but overhear the centaur declining the professor’s request and the centaurs reply made her laugh.
“Ah, you don’t like taking down notes too?” She asked after a minute of observing him read what was on the board.

Dimitri nodded at her reply. He stood, pushing himself off the log, walked over and smiled at the girl, he held out his hand in a greeting "Dimitri, Dimitri Weasley, and I'm sorry but I cant think of your name" he said smiling at her. He laughed too, at their professors request, and mostly at the centaurs immediate refusal. Dimitri looked at the hufflepuff girl "Nope, I don't" he said, still reading the board, and waiting for more students to arrive.

Cassandra looked a little sheepish, as she realized her students had heard her request. "Fine" she muttered to Nyurion, who in turn laughed at her. She sighed and turned to the class, she was waiting for a few more students. "Okay" she said eventually. "What is the centaurs prefered habitat?" she asked, then paused "Also, do Centaurs need wands to do magic, and what type of magic do they do?" she asked. Cassandra stood next to Nyurion, and smiled at him, and asked him if he wanted to input anything. "No not at the moment" he said simply.

Amelie just did the universal hand wave that clear said: it’s nothing. “It’s Amelie Sparks, Dimitri.” She smiled, took his hand and shook it gently, relieved that he introduced himself for she really could not remember his name. Upon hearing his remark about taking down notes, she grinned.
The seventh year Hufflepuff looked around for a person from Ravenclaw who probably wanted to answer the professor’s questions. Realizing that there weren’t many students, she sighed. Normally she stayed out of recitations but since there weren’t too many students around, she might as well participate in class. She took a deep breath, waved her hand to get the professor's attention before saying something. “Centaurs are forest-dwelling, and in each country where colonies exist, the Wizarding authority has set aside land exclusively for their use. One such colony exists in the Forbidden Forest. They generally live in herds of ten to fifty individuals.” Source: Harry Potter Wiki

Cherry arrived late for class but was glad to see she hadn't been the only tardy student. She usually was the last one to Charms or DADA but Care of Magical Creatures was different. She did not need a wand and so excelled at the class. Cherry did not see the centaur until she was next to the other students. Cherry gaped at the Centaur shamelessly. She had never expected to be so close to one. Though she wondered if she ever met him on a full moon.
Cherry tore her eyes away from the centaur when she thought it would look in her direction. As Cherry gazed down at the ground she wondered if he could sense what she was. Cherry really didn't want to find out so she avoided the centaur's gaze from then on. She felt guilty thinking of all the innocent creatures she must have eaten. Then she put her hand over her mouth and nose to smell her breath. She wondered if that was what sliced centaur smelled like.

Cassandra smiled brightly at Amelie." Very good, ten points to Hufflepuff. That is some good knowlede" she exclaimed rather happily. She looked at the new arrival to the class. "Miss Boulais, welcome to the class, but as you are late, and class has already started I think I will take 5 points from Hufflepuff. Please try to arrive on time next lesson." she smiled gently at her then turned back to the class. Nyurion looked at Kynthia sceptically. He had smelt her scent in the forest on a full moon, but he was not going to say anything. The humans could sort their own troubles. "Now that Miss Sparks has answered a question for us, would someone else like to tell us if Centaurs need wands and what magic they are capable of? she asked the class.

He just smiled at Amelie, as the Professor had started adressing the class. Dimitri raised his arm lazily. "Professor" he started. "Centaurs do not use wands for magic, but are known to be well-versed in magical healing, Divination, archery, and Astronomy. Centaurs burn herbs such as Mallowsweet and Sage to refine their stargazing findings." he answered her question. He leant forwards where he was sitting, and rested his elbow on his leg, so he could rest his chin on his palm.

Amelie could not help but smile brightly, glad that she gained points for her house since she rarely did for she normally stayed quiet in class, preferring to keep her answers to herself. Yes, she was big on talking but reciting was a different story. She did not know why, but it never really interested her.
When Cherry arrived late again, she could not help but be reminded that her housemate was kind of having the symptoms of habitual tardiness. Although, she had nothing against tardiness, for she was almost always close to being tardy, she could not help but frown. And, it was not because she disliked her housemate being tardy, it was because she was concerned as to why she was tardy. She waved at Cherry’s direction and smiled at the girl. And, when she catch the Gryffindor smiling at her, she smiled back.

Cassandra nodded eagerly at Dimitri's reply, and Nyurion just looked on impassivly. So far everything they had said, had not angered Nyurion. "Very good, Mr. Weasley, I'll give ten points to gryffindor for that answer" she smiled at the students. She pursed her lips, then spoke up "How big are the Centaur herds usually?" She pulled out her wand, and changed the writing on the conjured board, the list some of the points they had said. "I know taking notes can be really tedious, but would you kindly write down the few selected facts on the board. It could be of great use, if you ever forget something" She smiled again, and leant against the edge of the conjured board.

Sarah walked toward the rest of the class with her arms crossed. Her face was expressionless and uncaring. She wore her Gryffindor robes, black with red trimming. Her feet were covered by brown leather boots that she usually wore for Quidditch. Sarah glanced at the centaur momentarily. She was not in the best mood, so contemplated insulting the beast. But she instead searched through her bag and looked through last years' notes she'd done on Centaurs. She read them over quietly. Sarah looked up to compare them with what was written on the board. Sarah heard the question and looked down at her notes again. Without raising her hand, Sarah answered. "Ten to fifty usually, if I got this down correctly. Do we get to look after him, Professor? Or is he just for show?" Sarah spoke about Nyurion loudly as if he wasn't there or wouldn't understand. She hoped it hurt him but wouldn't mind terribly if it didn't. She wished everyone felt like he though.

Amelie nodded at the professor’s request. Taking down notes was not really her style but since the kind professor asked them to jut down some parts of the lecture, she obviously found it important. Probably this is covered in the tests… She quickly grabbed a parchment from her pouch bag and started scribbling down some random facts about centaurs.
She looked up from her notes, shocked to hear someone female answer the question. She was the only female student before the head girl arrived. She nodded curtly at her direction, never really liking her. To Amelie, the head girl and her mouth had a knack of disrespecting/insulting everyone who had ears to hear. In her annoyance, she hoped the pissed centaur attacked her. It would certainly be fun to watch since Sarah deserved it.
