Morgana looked up at her mother in confusion. She was only twelve; how was she supposed to have a man protect her? The other girls had their brothers protecting them, but for Meggy her brothers were the threat. Her shoulders slouched and she started cowering away from her mother when she became angry. Morgana nodded her head and said, "Yes. Yes I do mother." Her eyes widened and she shook her head furiously. "Alsciaukat did not say anything." Morgana was shocked by her mother's next words. "Please him? You mean I have to..." Meggy's voice trailed away. She gulped and straightened her shoulders. "I understand mother," Meggy replied quietly.

Morgana withdrew her hands from Meggy. She wondered if she had been too protective of Meggy. The girl seemed too like a toddler. "You should not listen to that silly girl. Not even for a minute." Morgana nodded to Meggy. She tried to calm herself. But there seemed no reason to be so calm. "Yes. Do what you must. Make him laugh, make him love you. You have no competent brothers to accompany you at school. I had expected you to come to this conclusion sooner. Or if you wish to betray me, then go. Go to your ghastly sister and ask her for advice. Do not question my advice again." Morgana's voice was raised loudly by the time she had finished speaking. She twisted in her chair and stared at the wall.

The girl's expression saddened when her mother turned away from her. After some seconds Meggy moved closer to Morgana Senior and wrapped her arms around her neck while resting her head on her mother's shoulder. Meggy inhaled deeply and said, "I would never betray you mother. I promise I will do everything you say, because only you know what is best for me." The young Ravenclaw loved her mother more than anyone else. She loosened her grip and lifted her head off Morgana's shoulder. "I want you to be proud of me," she finally added softly.

A dark part of Morgana's mind had hoped Meggy would have left and rid Morgana of having to be mature for once. But Morgana put such ideas to the back of her mind. It was not Meggy that had brought Morgana back to a nurturing smile but the thought of being the topic of gossip in Knockturn Alley again. "Then I forgive you, Meggy." Morgana turned toward Meggy again and embraced her. "Do not worry. I am already proud of you. No one can change that." Morgana pet Meggy's hair softly. Though she certainly wanted to kill again, it would have to wait for the weekend.

When her mother did not reciprocate the hug, Meggy felt worse and was sure that Morgana Senior was still angry at her. She could already feel the tears well up in her eyes but after listening to her mother saying she was forgiven, Meggy blinked them away before her mother turned to face her. Morgana heaved a sigh of relief when her mother hugged her close. Her mother's next words caught her off guard. Meggy pulled back and looked up at Morgana Senior with wide eyes. "For real?" she asked in disbelief. Without waiting for a reply, a huge grin appeared on her face and she gave her mother a hug. "Thank you mother. Thank you. I love you," she said gratefully.

Morgana stilled felt Meggy was hiding something from her. She had always felt Meggy kept some secret. It was hard to believe how long that thought had existed in the demented mother's head. Morgana pulled Meggy in to sit in her lap, she held Morgana to her bosom with arms around the child's neck and back. "Don't be sad, Meggy. You can tell mommy anything and I'll help you, kay?" Morgana rubbed Meggy's back to calm her down. "Tell me, what you need?"

The girl was surprised when Morgana Senior pulled her off her feet and onto her lap, especially because this had not happened in a long time. Her body soon molded with her mother's and Meggy leaned against her feeling content. The closeness was reassuring for the girl and it made her feel loved and safe. Morgana closed her eyes for a brief moment and let out a small sigh. She shifted her head onto her mother's shoulder and looked up at her in silence. "I was imperiused and forced to attack Lady Ravenclaw," she whispered. Morgana clung tightly to her mother and continued, "We think we know who did it to me but we wanted to be sure... by using Veritaserum." She paused and pursed her lips, "Can you help me brew some of that potion mommy?" Morgana rarely called her mother 'mommy'; only when she felt vulnerable.

Morgana's left eye twitched when Meggy went straight from the story to her request without telling her who the suspect was. Morgana also noticed that Meggy protected even the people helping her find the culprit. Frankly, Morgana was a bit disappointed that Meggy didn't simply get the idea to slay the Ravenclaw herself. Was her youngest really such an alien to her own family? Morgana pet Meggy's head softly. "I will help you. But next chance you get to kill Ravenclaw, you do it. You would be doing the magical community a favor." Morgana had used up her own veritaserum on Meggy's father. She would not have any for months now. Morgana planted a kiss on Meggy's head. "We might have to go to Salazar." Morgana didn't care about Rowena, she merely wanted Meggy's attacker punished. "Hmm. You should go back to school soon. I think you might have some studying to do."

Meggy gulped when she noticed the twitch in her mother's eye. Morgana Senior did not look pleased with her for not revealing the identity of her aggressor. Meggy feared that if her mother knew she was talking about Viktor, she would not agree to help her. Morgana beamed when her mother agreed to help her. However, the smile soon disappeared when she urged her to kill her own head of house. Meggy leaned back against Morgana Senior. She knew she would not be capable of murdering anyone but replied, "I will mommy." At the mention of Slytherin, Meggy stiffened. She curled up into her mother's lap and said, "Professor Slytherin wants to protect him. We heard him say that." Her expression clouded and she almost had the feeling that her mother wanted her gone. Meggy pouted her lips slightly and said, "I stayed up all night to study. So that I could spend some time with you."

Morgana was growing more annoyed as she listened to the child explaining the situation. She was being absurd, crying about a little imperiius curse and that Ravenclaw woman. "Well, it sounds like whoever he is would be a perfect man to look after you. Salazar knows strength, Morgana. You should not fight him on this. He is family, after all. Ravenclaw is just an arrogant bitch. You should get back to school and start finding a way to attract one of those Slytherin boys. I am not going to protect you forever." Morgana wondered about making the potion and then decided, "If Salazar doesn't want him persecuted it is because the boy is innocent. I will take his word on it. Now, run along. Oh and good luck, dear."

Meggy was horrified that her mother would suggest Viktor, even though Morgana Senior did not know her daughter was taking about him. She kept her expression neutral and simply nodded. Viktor had a terrible reputation; he hurt, raped and murdered people. Meggy wanted to please her mother, but she had no intention of sticking around a person like that. Although her mother never held her sorting against her, Meggy knew she was not happy about it. "I will find the perfect pureblood boy mother. I promise," she said solemnly. Morgana was disappointed that her mother thought she shouldnot pursue her plans. As Morgana Senior sent her away, Meggy clutched tighter to her mother. "I hate being a Ravenclaw," she finally said.

Morgana watched Meggy carefully for some action to betray her lies. Morgana did not detect any such betrayals however. Morgana had been betrayed and lied to by all but one of her husbands: Brutus Malfoy had been her only love in life. After him, Morgana married only for money and convenience, including Meggy's father. "I don't doubt you, Morgana. You are young yet, there will be plenty of time to grow." Morgana rubbed Meggy's back soothingly. She spoke to Meggy softly, "Ravenclaw is not a terrible house for a girl, Darling. If one of my sons were sorted Ravenclaw though, I'd have killed them in an instant."

Meggy sighed softly and said, "I know mother. But you would have been more pleased if Professor Slytherin had chosen me." She pulled back from the embrace and looked at Morgana Senior with a serious expression. "I promise I will never let you down. And no matter what happens... my loyalities will always be towards you." Meggy smiled warmly at her mother and leaned forwards to gently kiss her cheek.

Morgana was slightly annoyed by how close Meggy had to be. Her others had never been so clingy at her age. Morgana sighed when her youngest kissed her cheek. Morgana kissed Meggy back, "You are my daughter, Ravenclaw was not the house I had hoped for you. That is true. But now, I am aware that you belong there. Despite my wishes." Morgana shook her head. She responded to Meggy's statement of faith quickly, "I did not like my mother. She was wretched and evil. She still calls me a whore, though it was not my fault that my first husband was murdered. Bless his soul. She is envious of me. Bitter that no men have killed or died to marry her."

Her eyes widened and she declared, "I never knew." Although they did not often see their grandmother, Meggy had always thought highly of her. Being only a child, Morgana was easily bribed by gifts and sweets. She lifted her chin up and said, "I no longer like grandmother. She should not say that about you." In Meggy's eyes her mother could do no bad and she loathed anyone who did not like or go against Morgana Senior.
