As usual, the Dark Arts Defence room's door was locked promptly and no late students would be admitted entry. Leaflets detailing the day's work and homework hung on the door for the poor, tardy souls. Natalie gazed accusingly at her class. She, obviously could sense a dark force within the school. Which had forced Natalie to teach this particular subject early.
Natalie was seated behind her desk, just now finishing jotting the names of her present company. She addressed the class without wasting a further minute when she had completed. "Good afternoon, Students. This week's lesson will cover a number of horrendus discoveries of those who refer to themselves as Dark Artists." Natalie cleared her throat loudly. "Today, we will discuss the Imperius Curse. Ten points for the incantation. Another ten for the effect. You must wait for my call before you answer and an individual may only provide an answer to one of the inquiries. Now, hands up, if you are aware of either answer"

Helena was so glad someone decided to teach Defense against the Dark Arts. Lately, she felt like the some sort of a dark time had been beginning right under the founder’s noses. She feared the validity of her feelings, especially after hearing the recent killings and other events prior to it circulate the school.
It was far too early to say she liked the teacher, but from the way she spoke, it was evident how much she detested the dark arts. Saying it was horrendous was actually putting it lightly.
When the professor asked her first question, helena raised her right hand and stood up. “The incantation is Imperio, pronounced as im-PEER-ee-oh.” She paused to collect her thoughts. “If the spell caster succeeds, he or she will have total control over the victim.”

Justin came to the class, apparently expectant of what was actually in store for them. Since he was quite weak on the subject, he decided to take it so that his knowledge would increase. As a baron, he was aware of the recent news regarding the rise of the dark times that currently surround the wizarding world. He sat next to Lena, actually feeling euphoric because she was also taking the class.
He listened as the professor addressed a question about the Imperius curse and Lena, giving the answer to the questions. He was capable of performing all three unforgivable curses yet because he was still underage to begin with, he just couldn't do it yet. He then raised his right hand.
"Excuse me professor but I would like to add something to what she said and also a question, if you don't mind," he said.

Prudence got a lot better, thanks to the supply of altered potions given by a friend, she was, once again, able to cope with everyday life in school. Though, lately, she decided to lay low, she always had the urge to recite. Being a Ravenclaw had everything to do with it, she guessed. Reciting felt like a necessity.
She was sitting directly behind Helena and was so glad she answered. That would be twenty points to Ravenclaw if she heard the teacher correctly. The fifth year was kind of surprised when she saw Law, a conceited Slytherin in her year, sitting beside Helena. Until then, she had no idea that the two were friends.

Alaric arrived for class, and he was glad that it was just starting. Surveying the surroundings, he easily spotted Prue, who was sitting right at the back of...Helena Ravenclaw. He gulped, knowing that he absolutely vexed her during Charms class. He knew that he had to talk to her, however since it was class time, he decided against it.
Sitting next to Prue, he could hear that the topic would be about the Imperius curse, one of the three unforgivable curses. Having heard Helena answering the question, he decided just add up to what she said, Suddenly, he saw someone else raise a hand...and the shocking fact was that the student was from Slytherin.
"Prue, I'm glad I haven't missed anything at all," he said, as he sat down next to her. "However, who is that guy sitting next to her? I know he's from your year, and you seemed to be really vexed at him," he then added, looking at the student.

The young Black was one of the few students to be seated in the room fifteen minutes before the class was due to start. She sat straight up in her chair and stared ahead of her with an air of superiority. So far those present were of no interest to her and she rather wished the class would start. Auriga was curious to what Fletcher could offer. Her father had already thought her some Drak Arts, however her mother had insisted on her taking the class. The door swung open and she turned around. Her eyes narrowed when none other than Viola Drayton walked inside the room like she owned it.
Auriga did not like Viola, and vice versa. Both girls were striving to secure their place as queens of Slytherin. They were very similar in behaviour but never agreed on anything. While Auriga preferred to psychologically abuse her preys, Viola adopted more crude measures. Auri shrugged her shoulders and gave Viola a dirty look before turning her attention back ahead of her. A smirk appeared on Viola's face. The Black girl was always a source of amusement to her. Viola made a detour and sat down gingerly beside the other Slytherin only to taunt her.
The fourth year's face turned a bright red with anger and she snarled softly to herself. Auriga purposely moved her chair away Viola and gave the latter her back. This stance did not last forever. When the professor started the lesson, Auri was forced to sit properly. Viola turned her head slightly and winked at the younger girl. Vi pursed her lips and both girls leaned slightly forwards to listen to what Fletcher had to say. Seeing them side by side one could think they were related with their eyes narrowed in concentration, their hair long wavy and brown.
Ooc: I play both Auri and Viola on the site. I decided to incorporate their posts in one. I will probably switch from one to the other.

Natalie's usual expression seemed severe, but now she appeared absolutely livid. She sat back in her chair and crossed her hands across her desk. "Very good, Miss Ravenclaw. As promised, ten points will go to your House. Unfortunately, you failed to follow my other instructions. Fifty points will be taken from your House." Turning her head slightly toward Justin Law, Natalie addressed him next. "By all means, come before your classmates and add your information." Natalie did not seem happy at either of the students, who could not follow simple directions. She was close to signing them both down for detention.
On the other hand, the remaining students did not seem as arrogant as the first two to speak up. There was another however, "Mr. Stouner, please sit quietly until it is your turn to speak in my classroom. Thank you." Natalie sighed and signaled Justin Law to the front of the class with a quick hand gesture.

Apparently he was talking a lot that he did not notice that the professor already called his attention. Good thing he managed to pay attention to what she had just said. He then realized that he was just halfway seated and standing up. He could not do anything but just accept the fact that he was acting all arrogant in class.
"I'm sorry professor for my arrogance, it won't happen again," he then said. He then sat down on his seat and breathed a sigh of relief. He then realized that whatever points he worked hard for at Charms class would actually be negated. He just sighed to restrain himself from speaking.

Justin suddenly became aware that the professor was no means pleased for what he just did. He cast a curious glance at Lena, and realized that she must have either misheard or not heard the directions specified by the professor at all. Then again, even though he was worried for her, he should also worry for his own welfare as well. When he saw the professor beckoning him to come forward to the front of the class, he slowly stood up and walked towards her, completely devoid of any emotion.
"I apologize for the insolence I have caused during this class, and I will humbly accept any form of punishment for this," he said. He knew better than to argue with professors, he was not taught by his mother to be disrespectful and insolent. Deep down, he was already expecting detention for what he just did, although his mind was hoping it wouldn't happen.

Natalie came close to smiling at Justin. She may have been too swift to judge him at first. Nevertheless he was still wasting time with his apology. "That is well, young Sir. But I have not decided to punish any of you further just yet. Now your addition to Miss Ravenclaw's answer was?" Natalie debated with herself on taking points from Slytherin, but had always feared retribution from Salazar himself. It was best not to tamper lightly with volatile elements, as Natalie had learned from her former werewolf spouse.

When he heard the professor ask him about his additional answer to what Lena had just said earlier, he was relieved because he was actually expecting some form of punishment or even detention. Although, he could see that whatever answer he would give her would be crucial, since he was only supposed to add up to what she said. He then sighed and started collecting his thoughts. When he finished doing so, he started speaking.
"As Lena has just said earlier, the Imperius curse renders total control over the victim, although a person with exceptionally strong willpower can actually overcome it. The main problem is that it would be very hard to figure out who were really affected by the curse and who were just pretending," he said. He then hoped that the professor would like his answer, if not, he would have to totally risk facing detention.

Helena, pleased with what she said, sat on her chair with her head held high. It was not her best answer but she was confident it was more than enough to get points for her house. When the teacher spoke, she almost fell off her chair in embarrassment. Of course! The instructions. Why oh why did I have to forget them? Because of her, forty points for Ravenclaw was gone. Not really sure how to react at the moment, she simply bit her tongue.
Now, she knew how the people who lose points for their house felt. It was horrible and she did not wish it on anyone. Her embarrassment somehow wounded her deep within and a dark voice whispered. That’s one of the reasons why your mother doesn’t care about you. She tried to shrug it off… she was Helena Ravenclaw and she was not going to just sit and let herself be embarrassed so with poise she said loudly. “It is just natural to be put to shame once in awhile.” Somehow, without really even saying it to anyone in particular, it boosted her confidence. OMG! Forty points! Prue bit her lip, hard, just to ensure that her mouth was shut. She saw the professor’s point. Helena was not able to follow the instructions. But forty points? Really? Was it that bad of an offense? She bit her lower lip harder, it was taking a lot of her restraint not to voice out the injustice. Somehow, she felt sad for Helena, her younger housemate. The poor girl just tried to answer.
Prudence Campbell was so glad she did not speak up when Lars started talking. It was bad enough for a class to have three bad shot students… adding one more was just like pounding a stone to one’s head. Glancing at Lars, she made a face, a face that said it’s okay or don’t worry. When she noticed that he was sort of restraining himself, she made a mental note to ask him about it later.

Alaric was watching intently as the boy called Justin Law walked to the front of the class, apparently confident. He was really impressed by him; now he understood why Prue thought of him as somewhat conceited. He was still gazing intently at what was transpiring between the professor and Justin and it seemed that he was not going to get detention at the very least. He then turned to look at Helena, and what she said made him realize that she valued her pride more than anything. She should have just acknowledged that she made a mistake right there and then, he thought. He was about to whisper something to Prue but he then remembered the the professor already told him off, so he sat still, keeping quiet, hoping Prue would get what he was thinking right now. OOC: I was surprised at the turn of events that happened.

As Justin waited for the professor's feedback regarding his answer, he heard Lena said something along the lines of 'It is just natural to be put to shame once in awhile.' He was genuinely shocked by what he heard but after all, he could not blame her, it was hard to lose points for one's house and judging from what she said, had a lot of pride. He just smiled, for he would have just done the same. He didn't really care about house points; all he could see was that he really admired her for having such confidence.
He then fixed his gaze back at the professor, and somewhat deep inside, he felt bad for her; he and Lena deserved her anger and even though he wasn't really tolerant of muggle-borns, he felt that it was just indeed rude to be displaying such flamboyant insolence. He just hoped that the professor would not be able to read his mind right now.
